I love Skies of Arcadia, it is one of my favorite games I have ever played. and it is one of my deepest sorrows that the game gas not been remade for the current-gen consoles.

Unfortunately not everything survives...for the longest time I thought Chrono Trigger was over and done with, only a crappy pseudo-sequel (Chrono Cross) to show for all the rumors. But then it came back on the DS, of course this is Square cashing in on remakes, but that's not to say it couldn't happen for Skies of Arcadia, it just depends on the publisher and where they want to go with the franchise.
Here's to hoping for sequels/remakes of awesome games!

HERE HERE!!!
I first went into game stop and didnt know what to buy, so I asked the dude to recommend some good rpg's as soon as he said final fantasy I was like "ugh..." then he pointed towards the old games section and said theres skies of arcadia and I said... hmm whats it about? and the dude told me about pirates and swords and the world almost coming to an end... and I was like... "cooool..." the I went home and began to play it.. I gotta say it was really entertaining... and time consuming.... but that's what I liked about it.... and the part with two quests at the same time... pure genius... and the maroon part... AND THE SHIP BATTLES!!!! my biggest accompliishment in the game was getting all the chams for cupil.... and getting almost all the secret islands... oh and beating all the bounties.... even the final magician...
all in all Skies of arcadia is a really good game, and I would reccomend this product to anyone who likes RPG's...... Ramirez is a douche.... how dare he treat fina like that.....

it's a vibrant, refreshing world with great characters. The characters are vibrant and realistic, and seem like actual people. The gameplay is smooth, although it's a little old fashioned by today's standards. And the ship battles are unique and fun. The only problem I have with the game is that you can't go three feet without running into a random encounter.

if you have a Game Cube, Wii (it's not out for the wii, but the wii plays GC games) or a Dreamcast, I heartily recommend it.

I enjoyed Skies quite a bit, but I did have one major mechanics beef with it: you couldn't control where your characters moved on the battlefield, but their positions matter due to shaped attacks. Thus, it was impossible to prevent your party from bunching up and getting constantly hit by cone or small circle attacks.
A lot to do, and the ship battles were a cool idea, if not quite balanced all that well(most were either easy or swingy). My favorite fights were the ones against the female bounty hunter who kept trying to kill you.
I did find it particularly humorous that the one major villain was named Ramirez in the English version.(Not a name you usually see in fantasy RPGs)
Good game, but in my opinion it was never the equal of Grandia.

well, you're just wrong...
And its true, the game (especially ship battles) does get ridicously easy toward the end of the game
But the storyline more than makes up for it
