Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge

It FUCK'N better be, or is it just me thinking how can this be over when I still dont have a single FUCK'N clue what the FUCK'N deal is with Nino!

Dont beat yourself up, 4manyak bra. I also failed to get the right answer, HECK I was dead convinced Pepper or Pko was the even one out. Well, go ahead and laugh at me. Somehow, I doubt that even hermitVI really knew.

See what I did there?

Okay. I'm finally back from hibernation. Damn I was tired. Anyway, back to the question I posed. Thanks Hermit for putting the topic more into a more specific perspective. Again, I'll write it out for people to comment: -

"Is it wrong that Papa (Seki Ichinomiya) is trying to stand in the way of his son’s moral obligations, not only considering that it’s an obligation which honors the family rule, but also by doing it at the expense of the happiness of others (UB dwellers)? "

Now for me, I believe that Papa does have every right to stand in his son's way. In a sense, Ko must defeat the "master" that has taught him so much about the world. Since Papa has lived longer, this life experience is more than enough warrant for Papa to enforce law. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not going to say it is right for every parent to impose their ethics onto their kids as this is a thing you develop throughout your life.

In ric's case though, his isolation from others due to the creed made him pick up his father's creed and enforce it upon himself. With papa bringing him up, it again goes back to nature VS nurture. Papa Ichinomiya is living through his ethics. He only wants to see his own son, Ric, suceed and perhaps surpass him. Whether or not he is liked isn't part of the question

Ethics and business ethics should always be seperated but in the Ichinomiya's creed, this ethic is mashed in with personal ethics. Papa has followed this creed and this has let him succeed not only in business but also succeeding in life in the aspect where he is able to obtain anything. Although it seems like he controls things via "fear" as shown in UB11, It is a mighty influence nonetheless.

Although in most peoples case, this is a sign of totalitarian rule, it can also be seen as "for the greater good" that the 'dwellers' of the bridge are taken out. Although it may destroy the happiness of a few [people under the bridge], the general population will benefit as no dwellers will be there. Not only that, a park is built, thus allowing for the space to be used for the public.

Overall though, I believe Papa Ichinomiya has every right to stand in the way. As a father, Papa needs to enforce his "ethics" and as human behaviour dictates, it is Ric's job to "rebel." I guess this really is the "rebellious" stage for Ric... Although it is probably long overdue...

I hope to hear from you guys :3
Laters!

Ric's dad is just as awesome as I initially thought he was, BTW. Hes almighty alright, but not an almighty douchebag. I was really shocked though to find out that theres an even more powerful and influential man than him, and to think that that person is someone from the bridge. Regardless, ric's dad is the best eva! He even taught us the most important lesson in morality:

Spoiler:
Its better to get arrested for not wearing pants, than accepting help from someone. XD

Speaking of morality, I see nothing wrong with what he tried to do, but Id prolly curse him too if I were someone who lives under the same bridge. Isnt that how ethics work? Who gets to decide anyway, who is right and who is wrong, when everyone has his own version of the story to tell?

fixd. It's finished just waiting for it to get sub. Anyway i wonder why but I'm not really reminded of it. Arara-kawagi under the bridge?

I just have a thought that maybe it's a place that make people mad instead of a place where people are mad. That's why its Arakawa under the bridge not under the bridge of arakawa

Heya Jarphone. Totally agree with you on the fact with Ric's father. You've read my post. But what I wanna know is what do you believe ethics was really portrayed in this anime series well enough? I reckon there was a lot in context but thank you for responding.

I wanna know what you think from an old session HermitIV and I had. Do you believe Nurturing or Nature determines a person and his values? How do you think Ric turned out? I'm interested in seeing what you respond with or any other member in this board!

LIFTOFF![/h]

"One small step for Hikaru Nakamura, one giant leap for SHAFT."

I understand they wanted to end the season and show KouPapa in a different light, and to be honest, I'm not surprised they did. Just take note: the first half of 13BRIDGE was taken from volume 5; the second half... from volume 8!

I creamed myself a little when finding out about the announcement, very happy of course to know we'll get to see more of the crazy bastards.

How about that? They even share the same height, almost! Nino 159cm // Avril Lavigne 156cm.

"Crazy bastards" huh? How about I finally got you to shut up, "just as planned"?

it can be ominous. The 2nd season might turn original and anime adaptations that turn original usually go bad -__- ;

Meh... Arakawa UB is awesome :3. Its enjoyable for both thinkers and casuals!!! A second season will be interesting but lets just enjoy the glow of this anime a little longer :3.

Once it was decided Nino would get a haircut I almost creamed myself, sadly there was very little change ;___; *heart broken*

I'm hoping we'll get season 2 for the winter season, sooner the better no?
