I think more people are more aware of existing (scanalated) books that they enjoyed and so tend to base their requests on their known wants/needs rather than the unknown ones. If they don't know such and such published a chapter in the latest such and such magazine, they're not going to request it. If they had enough Fluency in Japanese to know about it, well then they probably wouldn't be requesting it either. But I don't think requests for licensed releases of already scanlated works is going to go away. People want to see the works they love available, legally.

It can also be in some cases, where a fan of such previously scanlated work admired it so much they want to support the artist and a legal option here in the US. Previously when I worked on scanlations of non-h manga, and Viz or Yen Press would license a title, that was it. We'd call our job done, and find a new title, and then happily buy the legit release. Not everyone wants to just read everything digitally. Some people like owning physical objects.

As to the question as to why something took longer to release legit when it was previously scanlated by the same group - artwork is completely different, and the translation will more than likely take some reworking as well. Fakku takes pride in every book, and wants to make sure they're no less than perfect.

No doubt there will be some differences noticed when we begin releasing books that already have had some chapters released through the subscription service. Artwork for those will also more than likely be different for the book release because the Japanese publishers tend to do some changes on their end between a magazine release and a tankobon release.

I'm sorry I refuse to pay money to jack off. I'm not that obessed with Hentai.

Considering that Jacob started Fakku just so he could get more Asuka, I'd say it's not an ignorable loss. Parody doujins have always been at the core of Fakku from Day 1 and now they're going away.

It's not like Fakku has hosted all the parody doujinshi available.
For years there have been a huge ammount of scanlated doujinshi that never made its way to Fakku.
It's not a big loss.

Fakku Transfer Userscript
I made a script that will search other hentai sites for all of your favorites, so you don't lose them when they get cleared.
It adds a little bar to the bottom of the favorites/collection pages, and lets you select the site you want to search.

fuq. Need to sign up, and large amount of cbf for signing up to another website. I'm a little lazy

Sorry about that, I guess they don't show adult scripts without login :[

:(
So, how does it work? Just like an addon to your browser? Or it works with the site for it?

It's a userscript (a small javascript file), so you need an addon like greasemonkey/tampermonkey or some such program to run it. (though I think Chrome can run them without an addon.
When you go to your favorites page, the site loads, then the script runs and adds a button at the bottom so you can mass search another site for all the titles. It's totally separate from Fakku.

If you have more than two pages of favorites then it'll be worth installing ^ ^

Just tried it, and it only searches for the first title. Possibly make a new thread for it, as this is actually pretty handy

Definitely. The volume of sales for the Fakku Books releases so far are a testament to this ongoing fan support (several books were previously completely scanlated already).

That's why I'm really interested in how Fakku plans to coordinate requests or suggestions for new titles in the future and really take advantage of the (at times fanatical) fanbase. There was a mention of kickstarter on Jacob's recent post, which I think is a wonderful idea. Since Fakku also has some avid supporters (e.g. some people even have more than one subscription), I think the kickstarter idea or something similar will be great way for these overachievers to make a more meaningful contribution.

Hey Jaccob, I'm cool with you going wanting FAKKU to become a legal way to get hentai books. It helps the artist, it's uncensored and it's not like 10$ less in the wallet are going to kill anyone.

Just one thing I would like to say.

Can you in the future find a way to send Books to the EU for, lets say, less than 40$ please ?

I can't buy hard cover books at all due to the ridiculous shipping fees, I know you're only now starting up but please don't forget your mates at EU man.

Cheers

I promise we will make this happen after the new year starts.

Thank you.

*off topic* Since I kinda have you right there. I can't become a Fakku Subscriber.
I always get an error when trying to pay. Is Fakku Subscription limited to NA users only ? ( since it asks for a ZIP code when you want to pay for a sub )

Well, I knew as soon as Fakku books was announced that this would be the eventual outcome. Its for the best. I just wish there was a place where I could buy uncensored hentai movies. There was a time where there was a buttload of uncensored vids being produced for the western audience, but my guess is piracy scared companies from doing it anymore. If I wasn't so busy with my own projects, I'd follow Jacob's example and try to make a website devoted to uncensored subbed hentai movies.

So I deploy and come home, and then deploy again to the other side of the world, and when I finally get alone time and a laptop I find that Fakku has died and joined the Dark Side. :(

I tried searching for the 'Monster Girl' and 'Kemonomimi' only to find them replaced with 'Active Subscription Only' and 'Fakku Books'. This to me is a little bit funny, in fact it is both hilarious and yet sad at the same time. When I left Fakku books was just becoming a thing that I saw often on the front page, and now it is Pay-to-Play for hentai? Since when did that happen?

For years Fakku has been providing free content for users, and all of the sudden they want to 'support artists' by using a paid subscription model? I doubt that there was some sort of legal action taken to force this change, and since I don't have the patience to read through 22 pages of responses I'm just going to ask here: What legitimately caused the shift to subscription with limited free content and the removal of all of the awesome free content that was previously available? I guess 65,000 books sold made you see some pretty significant dollar signs. Was the money too good to pass up? Can't say I blame you for it, but I will say that $13.00 a month is pretty absurd when multi-million dollar porn companies are charging the same or less.

I guess after years of coming here I will have to leave, a damn shame I was on the other side of the world and couldn't save my faves like everyone else here.FUCK.

This all started because of take down notices from Wani Magazine, one of the largest hentai companies in Japan. The doujins were never here to stay once the Wani deal went down. The paid subscription is for their magazine service where they translate all the content from each month's issue of Xeros and Kairakuten.
Honestly I'm surprised Wani let them keep scans for a year. Being in the legal market while simultaneously stealing your competitors product is a big turn-off for most companies.

Sorry for not reading this massive thread, but there is something I wanted to clarify.

I understand that all unlicensed content is being removed, right, understandable. Considering there are agreements with Wani Magazine in place, makes sense and I see why the website is heading in this direction.

However my question is how will this effect works from small artists who are independent and sell their works via Comiket and mainly do their own publishing and distribution. Like small Doujin works that are self-releases from the artists themselves that don't have a licensed publisher involved?

Is this move going to be a blanket removal of ALL scanlated content? or are only licensed works being affected? Would this not have an effect on artists who don't have any licensing agreement and simply handle their works independently?

As far as I'm aware, it only affects the licensed work that's being scanlated illegally. If it's uploaded by the artist here, it's fine. There's a few smaller artists that do work at comiket and stuff that have been signed up more or less here, probably will be more over time

After you remove all of the unlicensed content, will they still show up in our Favorites/Collection? I really don't want to forget the names of all the artists and works I've saved.

Oh yeah I've done that recently, and it exported a json file. I'm not quite familiar with it, but from looking online, I may need to download another software to read it properly.
