[Locked] Coming Soon

12
Last week we celebrated our 9 year anniversary. It's been a crazy ride and it's hard to believe how far we've made it since FAKKU first came online. That said, the next year is going to be insane. We have tons of new projects planned that we will be sharing when the time comes. If you're a FAKKU subscriber you are going to get access to more and more content at no additional cost as we pick up more artists and more magazines. To get things started, here are a few exciting projects we can talk about now!

Toshio Maeda Kickstarter

We are proud to announce that we are working with the godfather of hentai, Toshio Maeda, to publish his entire collection of manga in English. This is a massive undertaking that will take years, so we're putting together a Kickstarter campaign so that these new books don't impact our existing line up of titles. We will be putting together a small team to focus on these titles and they will be starting with Urotsukidōji - Legend of the Overfiend, and after that we plan to work on La Blue Girl, Demon Beast Invasion, and Adventure Kid.

Publishing Western Artists

Another project we've been working on behind the scenes is publishing western artists alongside our Japanese artists. We've chosen a few to start with that will be consistently releasing chapters each month. All of these chapters will be made available to subscribers at no additional charge. When the time comes we'll even be going so far as to publish those chapters in books alongside our other releases. We'll be announcing many more artists in the future but today we'll be starting with the first two and their first official chapters will be debuting next week. If you're an artist who'd like to be involved, send me an email at jacob@fakku.net.

The first artist we'd like to announce today is someone you might be familiar with, gy (formerly known as Ghettoyouth). He is an incredibly talented artist who has done quite a few doujin works alongside his own original stories Going forward, gy will be releasing new chapters on FAKKU every month, starting with Shady Dealings which will be available next week

Second we'll be publishing AI, an artist from Portgual, and his Amague! series. He impressed me a few months ago with his dedication to seeing his story told and I am happy to have him join FAKKU and share that story with the world. You can expect a good 20 - 30 chapters total with a new one every month!

Scanlations

At the end of December, all scanlations will be removed from FAKKU. We announced this 6 months ago and the time has finally come to go through with it. It will be sad to see all of the scanlations go, but in order to completely support the industry (both at home and abroad) it's time to part ways with our past. We have worked with so many different groups over the years and we even ran our own scanlation and fansubbing teams. Those experiences are what defined and led us to where we are today, and I'm proud of all we have planned for the future!

We know a lot of you are only here for the scanlations, and I understand that you will not be pleased to see them removed. We hope to bring back a lot of the content officially, legally, and in collaboration with the artists that created it. If you want to see that happen the best way is to become a subscriber or purchase one of our books. December 23rd will be the last day that new scanlations are uploaded to FAKKU, and on December 31st all unlicensed content will be removed.

Skateboards

Last week we announced our new line of skateboards and showed off collaborations with artists Bosshi, Henreader, Namonashi, Boomslank, and OMOCAT. Through the next year we will be releasing new designs at a rate of one per month, with artists from around the world.

Forum Changes

Earlier this week I shared some organizational changes to clean up the forums a little bit and make them more organized. Perhaps the most important change is we've opened up the Books, Merchandise and Subscriptions forums to the public. You'll now be able to follow all of the things we are doing here at FAKKU, even if you're an anonymous user!

Final Thoughts

None of this would be possible without all of you. We won't always make decisions that please everyone (specifically in reference to removing scanlations), but you can trust us to make the right decisions. In a little over a year we have published over 15 books, and in just 3 months we have published almost 250 subscription chapters. Even with all that, there's a lot more to look forward to. I hope you all stick around and join us for the ride!
