Dakimakuras anyone?

You parents must have been great, I would probably get in so much trouble since my grandmother is very controlling and always wants to be in charge. She would probably kill me if it was legal XD

well.. they weren't aware of my secret hobby lol believe me if they was, i wouldn't be alive either =P i did a good job of hiding it. i live alone now so my shit is out in the open, when my friends come over it's a different story >.>

Sorry to barge in, but it's interesting to see other people's take on this hobby. I certainly don't live alone; and my mom knows about it. My mom is a little...well, she just thinks it's weird I'd spend "so much money" on a pillow case. She's seen one of mine that I happened to have on a pillow, which was completely clothed on one side. I doubt she knows I collect very indecent or explicit ones, though. Maybe? I don't go through the trouble of hiding it since I'm given my privacy anyway.
My mom is probably one of the more accepting people in my family. My brother doesn't care. My father also feels the same. And...it's not something I'd go around telling people, family or friend.

I've only been collecting for a year now, but it's fun. I just wish I had more funds to buy more.
Maybe one day~

Just an update for anyone who might be interested, AcHobby's commission rate they gave me was around $800 USD, and if I want to keep the cover artwork for myself it'd be an additional amount later on. I'd post this on reddit but I haven't gotten around to unlurking there yet. (Too lazy to make an account?)

Heh, maybe when I get my next shipment of goodies or an update on my commission. It's been a slow period, at least for me, the last month or so, as nothing has really caught my eye with the exception of the latest Carnelian cover.

I don't use SMJ anymore at the moment, so my days of the huge 10+ loot posts are probably dead. But it has been relatively slow for me the last few months, since I was still recovering from my trip to Japan. Though I just went a bit crazy the last week, and got 3 covers from Mandarake, 3 covers from Evening Call, and the 2 Takumi Makura covers that shipped recently. I've just been too lazy to bust out my good camera and take some decent pictures of everything. Hell, I still haven't opened any of the EC/Mandarake covers, and still have a CranCrown cover from last month that I haven't opened.

I have a backlog of at least ten or so covers I haven't opened at all as well, let alone take any decent pictures. Hopefully, with Comiket around the corner, I can get things rolling again.

i consider myself to be pretty savvy @ this hobby. i keep up with updates from "the" blog and shit.. but it seems like things have been pretty slow lately. i'm waiting for my NoReal lady venera cover which arrives next month along with some other loot. this comiket not like the last with covers or what? am i missing something?

Nah, there were a good number of covers. I just don't think Anko/Marks attended. The blog was pretty slow to update this time around, so it wasn't really the best place to be keeping up with stuff as it was being announced. For me, it's a mix of Twitter, the blog, Nijigenshingu, and Pixiv to stay updated on releases, and even then I'll see something pop up on Mandarake that I haven't seen before.

From my experience, this year summer Comiket has less attendees than last year's.
Tax rate increase in japan has affect almost everything (500>800 yen doujinshi , 10000 > 12000 yen dakimakura cover and so on) but not sure if that has any thing to do with attendees number.
Also as expect, event dakimakura cover is relatively 'tame', which is quite unfortunate.

so at least my favorite circle is making covers (MARKS) however i wish i could afford this shit lol apparently, MARKS has made their own fabric so their price might be fair cause of the exclusive factor. if anyone kops one of them joints lmk what its like. my birthday is coming up so i might buy one >.>

Dakimakura covers are pretty tough to sell, from my personal experience. I've had some luck selling them, but only for the really rare stuff like Marks/AnkoKoubou covers or unopened stuff that I priced considerably below what I paid for it. Of the ones you linked, there aren't any I'm personally interested in, but I might know someone interested in the Kurisu cover. And if she weren't getting a re-release in a few days, I'd also say the Kirie cover would be really easy to sell, even at a profit, but unfortunately the timing isn't great.

Yeah, the timing is pretty bad with Kirie. I'll list them on MFC, but I don't expect them to sell at all.

Yeah, the Kirie is really unfortunate. Still, you might be able to get MSRP for her at least; it looks like she's temporarily sold out on most stores and some users might still be looking to snag her.

That's pretty much how I am with my dakimakura listings, most recently with the Maki. She's been a cover I've wanted for years, but I always wanted the Nico more. I'll probably open her up in a few months, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to list her, and if I was lucky enough to sell her for a bit of profit, that would be cool. If not, it's a fantastic cover to have in my collection.
