Or you end up in a body bag being shipped back from Iraq because a certain president believed there would be weapons of mass destruction there. Sorry if it is offending, but I hate people that look at weapon like toys.

lets avoid talking about the possible death of one of our members and an American who is putting his life on the line for others, with few rewards I might add.

Damn Waar, I can never tell if your sarcastic or not. Oh well I didn't mean that I hope he dies, I am just tired of people seeing weapons like toys. There are a few matters you don't joke about and weapons are one of those :)

Yeah we're a hell of a lot more likely to invade Montana.

Just so this is clear to people I'd like to say that I (or pretty much anyone else really) don't blame any part of the current affairs on our men and women in the armed forces and we in fact appreciate their service. I have a friend who just joined the marines, one who recently joined the navy, and one who was recently in the navy (his period of service or whatever the correct term is ended). It's become pretty clear to me that people in the armed forces are no different than the rest of us. They're just normal people who for some reason or another decide to sign up. Every one of them that dies is as much a tragedy as anyone else dying. Which is another reason I hate our current president.

It is only a "weapon" if it is used as one otherwise it is a gun, rifle etc or toy in my case. well that is according to the NRA(National rifle association) I think they could call it a weapon when i'm hunting since it is killing animals. But if not killing anything its not a weapon.

I got to shoot a M16 about 2-3 weeks ago and its great. Also the marines just started using a new machine gun that owns the old one, the army still uses the old one since its expensive.

It also weirds me out with people always going thank you for what you are doing and stuff like that.

Not that war is good but we are america we love war well atleast to start them and then complain about it later. First everyone was for the war and now everyone is against it.
I also hope for the war(or new one) to stay going otherwise it is going to be a very boring 8 yrs in the marines(Since i have to go threw a yr of schooling and other crap for my job instead of 4 yr term i get 8.
Also people make it seem like so many people have died in iraq, around 4000 at the moment i think. When its nothing compared to how many terrorists we have killed and there way to kill us is to blow themselves up. which normally just injures one of our trucks and then we fix it and send it back out. wow i jump around in topics.

That is 4000 too many... In my opinion this war did have a good reason to start, but I really don't know about now. I believe they can handle themselves now and we should bring our military back home. No offense to your wanting to have fun, but not everyone enjoys being in the military...

the bases in iraq are good there mini cities but i do agree that iraq should be able to handle itself as long as it doesnt get invaded. But we always have to be at war with somewhere maybe go attack north korea or sumthin.

Not that it matters or anything since our government has put ourselves intno enough debt, but every war costs us more money, and that isn't a good thing...

I was reading your previous post and came across what you said. Why don't you think Americans are great?
0
they complain about everything and a good amount of them are lazy also some have way to much pride in their country. some is good but some go way overboard but not just america i think nowhere is particularly great.
0
I believe the key word in those sentence were "some". Not all or even the majority. I'm sorry if this came out as harsh, but I hate it when people lump us in as the majority when they bad mouth us. I do agree though that some do have too much pride, heavy on the complaints and are lazy, but if you think Americans are the only ones that have these traits I think you should reconsider...

no i think everyplace is like that which is why i dont particularly like any country over another well i like first world country's over third and 2nd. I think that all first world countries are basically the same.

The populace is yes. I wish I could say the same of how the government is the same, since some countries are doing better on that aspect... As for third world countries, there are probably a lot less lazy people since it is survival for them to work. I don't know about their social behaviors, but I wish our countries would have the same work ethic...

Here is a joke since we are on the topic of American government:

If pro is good and con is bad, then what is the opposit of progress?

EDIT: Now that I think about it I don't think I worded this correctly, but you get the idea. >.>

Well, the 4000 persons are american soldiers. However if you look at the civilian casualties so far since you started the iraq war the count looks way different allready. Between 55664 to 61369 are believed to have died during the war. I am not criticizing you for going against Saddam Hussein, but I do think that there were alot of civilian casualties invoked due to the war and due to the American policy in Iraq.

Yes, I forgot to mention this. Another negetive side of war is collatoral damage. Many innocent lives are lost. Though I guess the fact that some of those innocent civilians might be the terrorist doesn't help... Not that I'm justifying the killing of civilians.

the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few

(did that sound cruel)?

tbh i don't even believe the issue in iraq would be small factions taking over the country if the Americans were to leave; I believe the bigger problems may be Iran; they try to influence Iraq on a daily basis and if Americans were to leave it would be a cake walk for them to take over, they would be viewed as true liberators.

i try to think of americans being as faulty and annoying as the rest of us...and fail.
let me rephrase that, the american as amorphous mass and entirely a product of the zeitgeist, if you allow me that german word, are arrogant, obnoxious and probably every other negatively connoted word there is, but i do happen to know some individuals who happen to have been born in the US and do seem to be decent fellows.

Sorry but i simply have to disagree..
as you can see, the US is the most dominant world Power around.
and in due time i believe that the Us is going to go mad with power and start to invade territories that are near by due to either needs of more resources or Paranoia. but thats just my opinion.
