i've debated many times with many people (Americans included) about the odds of America invading Canada, it simply wont happen.

Sorry but i simply have to disagree..
as you can see, the US is the most dominant world Power around.
and in due time i believe that the Us is going to go mad with power and start to invade territories that are near by due to either needs of more resources or Paranoia. but thats just my opinion.

it's wrong... but you are entitled to be wrong.

less than 0.001% in the next twenty years, Canada and America will likey always be "buddies", no matter what the scenario, from the speculation, American will simply not be stupid enough to go up against Canada, nor does Canada have the guts to do the same, there's little if no difference between the Canadian and the Americans, with the free trade agreement goin on, and Canada's major source of import supplies as America, heck even both the governing systems are beginning to look similar, it's very much unlikely that anything will happen between them.

you make a good point.
But still. i never said in our generation this would happen.
its a possibility that it might happen. the percentage is very low.

well, other than having a conservative govt right now we havn't changed our system in a while nate... other than a more trade geared strategy.

but i think it would be more of how the rest of the world would view the United States invading one of the most peaceful countries in the world, it would be like someone trying to invade Jamaica, or Greenland. Also one of the United States greatest allies would probably look unfavorably at one of the commonwealth being invaded, I'm sure England would take action.

I think the American system, especially when it comes to the republican and democratic parties was one of the most confusing things I had in history lesson. I always got them mixed up. Took me a few weeks to get who was who.

On this issue of America invading other countries... Never going to happen. Not that I'm saying we should, but if America decides to invade other countries the world isn't going to stand by and watch as America takes over. Even if we did have to most powerful military in the world, we would lose to sheer resource depravement and numbers. Exactly what happened to Germany.

As for taking over peaceful countries, if a country wants to start a world domination course a peaceful country would be the first to go...

True, your government might not be the brightest but it isn't stupid enough to attack random countries just to gain land / resources on a whim. Except if they are ruled by dubious leaders and have oil /sarcasm.

too many liberals in the United States for world domination to be a possibility. The country was built on the concept of freedom...

and i wonder when it started being nothing but a concept...

it still does in a way, just a very materialistic way.

i believe it would happen.. World Domination!

we would think that we are giving the world the freedom we have.

Edit: AWW i missed the joke stupid baseball and thats the main problem with the war the terrorists know they lost so they hide in with civilians. If they were a true army they would have easy uniforms that say please shoot me. I wouldnt even call it a war any more its just crazy people blowing themselves up for their religion(By the way i am against religion just my
opinion on it).

they were never a real army, they're civilians who don't really like you trying to free them. Though most of them follow one religion, they really arent soldiers...

I didn't read all of the pages, just briefly read the first page.

On the note of the public school system in the U.S.: it is complete shit. After the first few years they don't teach you anything new in any of the required classes. The history classes are a complete joke (where I live, anyway) and geography is only taught briefly and never in a very involved manner (not that I really give a shit about geography).

The system that we use for "electing" our government officials is completely broken; this is why I don't vote, nor do I really pay attention to who any of the jerk-offs are that are running for office.

I had more to say but I couldn't think of a good way to write it. That, and I have ADD when it comes to talking about things I don't really care about.

Civics was a pretty awesome class. For a .5 credit course, It was pretty deep. Also, that was one of the few classes where I got a 90%.

Sadly, that was one of my dreams during high school. Good thing I didn't stick with it.
