Holy crap that took a long time to read...

On the subject of America invading Canada, it won't happen. Ever been to Winnipeg? They'd freeze their asses off before the invasion was over. (Not that I live there, I'm way the hell in Nova Scotia.)

For anyone who wants to know my views on America, watch Rick Mercer talking to Americans. That pretty much wraps it up nicely.

You read the whole thread?
America will not invade Canada, they can't win a war against terrorists in Iraq, how could they defeat a whole country without resulting to nukes, which would probably start a WWIII. Also, America would not want to start a war so close to their "backyard."

Ya, I actually read the whole thread. Why wouldn't I? Also, the whole backyard thing is a good point. Not many people like starting a fight too close to home. It leaves you at too much risk of counter attack.

to be honest, I don't believe any super power could possibly attempt a move towards world domination without the other countries attempting to stop them; they would need powerful allies.

Like Canada. Joke.

I agree. As I mentioned earlier, the world seriously would not stand by and watch this happen if they had learned their lesson from the previous WWs. As Waar mentioned earlier there are too many liberals in America to start a world domination course, unless we are talking about another world superpower, and seeing as China is rising in the rank and is becoming one, that might actually be a plausible outcome in the future...

Yes we could take over china but i dont think we could make them work for less.

That made me lmao pretty hard. I don't think we could make them work for less unless we turned to slavery. But hell we are losing more and more freedoms every day so that may eventually happen. Seriously though - wars are fought by the people and no matter how badly armed they are, the country who has the most usually wins. But in the past 2 centuries this way of thinking has been contested. Look at the Japanese invasion of China for example. Even Germany taking over all of Europe was unprecedented and even further back with Napoleon - nobody could believe what was happening. But the big population countries that are Russia and China are still here today and getting more advanced by the minute so our chance for world domination has already come and gone.

Everyone seems to think China is going backwards; but in reality it's becoming more free by the month; these olympics are almost like the world trying to place a band aid on a problem. I don't think Tibet will be free any time soon but it's being talked about which wasn't being done 5 years ago. The country is less and less xenophobic and moving towards a more socialist government every day. I believe the more problematic country is Iran, and although they look to follow many democratic ideals they have a spin of hate on all of them; they still have anti American rallies daily.

I do believe the time for one super power trying to take over the world is quite far from today, but if you think about it, 2 World Wars in less than 50 years was an oddity in itself; the gap between major conflicts such as these is normally a few hundred years, not 30ish.

the only reason they were so spread apart was because they had no way of reaching the other quickly now in a day we can be anywhere which means more wars(I think theirs might be a chance of another world war but most likely just minor wars will happen).

Leave that to the U.N. types and want to make everyone a "global citizen", remove a countries sovereignty to place a large governmental body as head of everything.

On the U.S. invading canada. The two countries have a relationship similar to college age roommates.

Canada: Dude, do you have any condoms? I'm going to tap some chicks ass.
USA: Sure dude, bottom of the sock drawer.
Canada: Thanks. Hey wanna drink Tequila with Mexico later?
USA: Awesome.
