is death really the end?

I have lost a great deal of sleep over this topic before. I still do.
I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm fucking scared of death. I mean, who isn't?

I believe that there's a god, but I'm no Christian, or buddhist or whatever. I came up with my own belief of a "god" (or whatever, more like a kind of energy than a being") that made... Things possible, the changing of the colors of leaves in the autumn, mitochondrial processes to Dark matter influencing the formation of "walls of galaxies" in space. I believe that there is something out there that causes all these to happen, that created this, that made the universe possible,

So when I die, I am left with 2 possibilities
Reconnect with this "god"
Or
Disappear.

Now one thing is for sure, the body will disappear. I don't really care about that anyways, I don't have a Grade-A face, or a large, record breaking cock.
My mind, my thoughts, my memories is what is precious to me. Even the memory of typing this post right here right now.

So I'm so bloody afraid that when I die, not only will all these disappear, but I WON'T EVEN KNOW they disappeared...

And in the case they don't? What will I perceive? Can I even perceive anything?
Sight is out. "Darkness" is athe same as "absence of light". You must perceive "light" to know what is darkness. When you die, you cant see, your eyes are just proteins and carbohydrates for plants to use. You wont even be able to "see" or "feel" anything. Your brain, the CPU of your body, is also gone. The heart stops. That means it won't pump blood to your brain anymore, essentially stopping all fuel to power the storage device in your head.
That means your brain won't function anymore. Perhaps the memories are still there, but you can't access it cos the power to the hard drive is down. Heck, even we don't fully understand how the human brain works even now.

So, what the fuck will happen to my "soul" when I die? Bringing up near-death experiences (especially out of body accounts), it's just impossible to experience out of body feelings because you need to have a separate eyes and brain to process all that information.

I hope death isn't the end, but its looking that way to me...

I do realize my post is not as coherent as a slice of bread, but I have way too much on my head whenever this topic pops out into my head.

Death is probably the end after all is said and doneā€¦ maybe. Who knows? I'm quite fine with that. Unless I have to listen to ever other dead person's thoughts, then I'd wish
i was alive. No one knows. I personally think we either forget everything and are sent to repeat our old life once more. Or, we become one with the energy of the world and all become one collective being. Or we go to heaven or hell, heaven being our personnal utopia where we forget our previous life and hell is where we repent for a set number of years before being ssent to heaven.

If it's nothing more than just a white walled room with an old chair, I'll be pissed. And again, don't lose years wondering about something in fear or nervousness. I find adventure in the unknown, so why can't anyone else?

I have never been afraid of death, for some reason I consider it as an interesting (although very scary) experince, my last experince accoding to what the evidence tells me.

So yea, death and yer gone, how will that even be like? How will that feel? I can't even imagine to not exist, I mean that would be pure nothingness. But we have so far never found a "nothing" in the real world yet as far as I am aware of, even empty space is loaded with energy and stuff beyound my education to truly grasp, so yea, I cannot imagine the nothingness of death and how it will be like, but I am fairly confident there is nothing after.

So in the meantime, gonna enjoy life and try to be of more benefit then detriment.

I actually believed in reincarnation when your dead it doesn't mean its the end it's the beginning of a new, though your past lives will probably forgotten but that's how it is because it will be a new life living.

I always wondered whats the point of reincarnation if you don't remember who you were ? I mean , the only reason you are you is because of everything that forged your personality so by reincarnating not only there's no way to remember previous lives but you will also become someone totaly different because of your new personality . So why would you even want to reincarnate , it looks like a really sad thing to me ...

Yes death is the end once you die you will disappear, just like when you are in deep sleep. But this time you will never wake up again. Such things as souls, gods, heaven, hell, ghosts and more are will only exist in our fantasy.

I think that when you die thats all she wrote. In my opinion there will be only darkness and nothingness after death but its OK because you're not conscious of it at all, You're just GONE FOREVER!

I dont believe that theres an afterlife where your soul floats about into a bright white light before eventually reaching these magnificent gates then being welcomed into heaven by a big friendly chap laughing jollily with a huge chesire cat smile, flowing white beard, rosy red cheeks and a golden crown ensconced upon his bonce.

If it makes you feel any better though believe what you want. Maybe if you dont think an afterlife exists then it wont happen? Who knows? Maybe I should believe in some sort of pipe dream afterlife feast with plenty of delicious lolis bouncing about. Maybe having faith in that would make it somehow happen! (An eternity of fried chicken, beer and lolis... Sounds good to me) :P~

Anyway to sum up, I think death really is the end... Unless you've had kids... And you live through them... Genetically speaking! :D

Now that's interesting; we could, after all, be considered as mere containers for our genes to live through. They dispose of us and continue to live on through generations of generations. In a way, they could be considered immortal.

For me the death is not the end
even it's not the end for your body or your soul or your memories
I have more than one reason to believe that
Is believing the Idea of afterlife is going to make me comfortable ??
No , why ??
because my beliefs make me think more about what's going to happen to me after all the bad things that I have done
Heaven , I don't think I will go straight to it
Hell , a lot of sins so this might be my place

as long as there is going to be justice , I don't care about what happen to me in this other life , it be the results of what I have did .

Actually , this is very interesting
According to your statement these smart genes used us as containers , so they can move on and be immortals
In the humans , women aren't actually capable of reproduce after the age of fifty , but women stays alive more than that and the men do too , So the question here is Why humans stays alive even after the main reason for their existence is gone ??

In all seriousness, I take religon very seriously. Jesus died for our sins, and he came back.
So I think that once we die, we come back a few days later as a new being.

I'd say, it's a waste of time to think whether it is the end or not. It doesn't matter where you end up after life, what matters in the end for me is 'Do I enjoy my life?'

Because if I do, I'm sure as hell I'd have no regret leaving. If you're an atheist, surely you want to be satisfied in just this one life, and if you're religious, the judgment afterlife surely makes you want to life a proper life. For me, it doesn't matter, atheist or religious.

After all, death is ironically the most sure thing in life.

I'm A physicist and I have to believe what the evidence (mathimatical or observable) shows. Although I would love to believe in another world after death filled with joy, my brain won't allow it.
CURSE YOU BRAIN!!!

Who knows? We can speculate and theorise about what happens once one shuffles off one's mortal coil, but since we don't know for certain if anyone has ever gone to the other side and come back again, I guess we'll never find out.

Maybe it's better that way. While you're alive, why not focus on living instead?

I don't really care if I die to be honest as your emotions are being rooted to this world(which is why people fear death because of their instincts to live and also emotional attachments too). How I look at death is probably a good thing letting all your worries go and never feel any more negative feelings you've experienced in life ever again(positive feelings won't matter when you're dead as you can't feel anything).

Let's put it this way, I was fine being non existent(not being born yet) as I had no emotion, no pain, no suffering, no conscience, nothing. Being non existent and death to me seems closely related so I probably know what to expect when i'm gone. All I can say is before you die inject as much morphine/pain killers into your system as you can and be as happy as possible before you die because that will probably be the last thing you'll ever feel and that feeling will be eternal(if this afterlife doesn't exist that is).

I don't know if there's an afterlife or not but it sounds all too easy and gibberish to me, my view on death is pretty much a paradise either way.

P.S I just realized I kinda necro a thread oh well.

I've actually considered where I'll end up after I die, not really sure if led a good enough life, or if God's standards are lower then most people think. A lot of people where I live seriously believe its less about your character and more of being submissive to God's will. That nothing else besides going to church and reading the bible will allow you to go to heaven. So yeah it is a scary thought. I always believed in a more deistic view of God and religion that he more didn't care but the thought still remains, what if that is our only way that influences what happens to us in the end?

Only the dead knows.

Yes we die and that is the end of it. why does anyone have to assume there is a after life? or a heaven or hell? I'll like to think such thing is real, but in reality we die, we done. Never believe what cant be proof real. Fate is not a way to differentiated fact from fantasy, the very definition of fate is believe with out any reason, with out evidence.

I like to believe my soul will go back to the title screen and I'd hit reset when I'm ready to go back and start over again with new game plus, or just restart on a harder difficultly.

Jokes asides that's more or less what I think will happen.

I like what Neil DeGrasse Tyson said about death. When he dies, he wants to be buried so that the fauna can feed off the energy content of his body just like he did when he was alive.

I think there is nothing after death. That's why life is so precious. Live your life to the fullest and to the best of your ability so that you don't regret your life at the time before you die wishing there is something after death.

So when you die, you'll be happy you did everything you were able to do not hoping to do more in the afterlife. You only have one life. Live it, cherish it, go have fun.

All the evidence points to yes. Until we discover that a soul exists then we have no real reason to think any other way. It sounds scary but eternity sounds worse. Sure the first thousand or so years might be ok but what about the next thousand, and the thousand after that and so on. It will never end. Forever is a concept that is difficult to grasp for some. If you really think about it though, doesn't eternal life sound like the ultimate sign of greed?
