Think about it. Whats religion without the threat of being punished for not believing?

i've been wondering for a while now, what's up with this religious obsession with head gears, it seems to me that everyone has a different had for a different religion whether u had to wear or u can't wear, Muslim men wear a skullcap called a taqiyah, in Islam, the Hijab, or headscarf, is worn by women, even the pope wears a hat.

what's the relationship between hats or the uncovered head and feeling of faith in god?

There is no deeper meaning or anything. Religious people like hats. I actually want a pope hat...and I would wear it too damn-it!

I wear hats so I don't get a sunburn on my head. I don't like my hair to be really long.

there's a meaning behind hijab.hijab is used to cover woman's hair.
why covering hair?
hair is a part of islam woman that shouldn't be seen.
the only part that could be uncovered in islam woman is only face, hand and feet.the rest should be covered with something not transparent.

as for the taqiyah,i don't know what its used for.
to protect head from too much heat?

Good point. However, I've always heard "The devil's greatest aceivment was convincing man he didn't exist". I feel that the devil really isn't that imortant, other than to embody evil in the bible. Personally I believe god (or whatever) is both the ultimate good and evil.

There was a story i heard long time ago it goes here

Hell and Heaven is a similar and not diferent at all
there was a table full of food and wine and people sit around it,with a long spoon on their hands.but there are significant difirent in both places
Hell : People are starving there they are skinnys as you could imagine ( remember utopia when great starv happen there)
Heaven : People here are full all the time all the time they not to fat or to skiny
they just doesnt have any troble att all
The big question is WHY
the people on the hell room try fill there own mouth with that long spoon. While people on the Heaven room They are fedding each other cause there spoon is not reachable.

Religion teach us to be kind to other people, feed them when they are hungger, comfort them when they are sick
So no matter what are your religion is is it Christian(like me),Moslem,Hindu,Budha,Satanic,or anything else could you feed the HUNGER
It decided what room are you entering
God Bless you all whatever name of God you believe
even if you are perverted like me

Good point. However we were kinda on the subject of the nature of (insert diety here ______). But your point remains valid. Personally, I try my best to be kind to those around me. Unfortunately, A rather large number of people regard kindness as a weekness, forcing me to have to watch carefully how others react to my kindness, to prevent being used.

Wait...they are hungry because they are stupid? That's what I'm understanding here, because even a sinful person can possess wisdom enough to realize that sometimes you have to work with others.

I am fairly religious.

I just consider myself to be a non-denominational Christian. The only part of the Bible I care about are the parts with Jesus and his teachings.

My ultimate goal is just to try and be a good human being. That's all really. Just be kind to others and love everyone (including my enemies which is hard to do but I try xD ).

I haven't studied up on the Bible as much as I probably should however. I just try to follow the Beatitudes mostly.

Well, glad to see we didn't scare you off. Your ultimate goal is the point. These days I try to do the same thing. While I refuse to follow any organised religion I pretty much stick to the rules stated in the bible. However, most religions say just about the same thing.

I'm not a big fan of organized religion anymore.

They worry too much about stupid things like abortion and gay people. When they are just really ignoring the fact that they need to care about these people and be supportive of them and love them even though they make choices they disagree with.

It really bothers me that a lot of Christians act like this including many in my own family. :/ (I have a cousin that hates homosexuals so much he wants to shoot them to the moon or something. Dx I was like...wtf? You go to church! Pay attention to what Jesus is saying boy!)

And yeah, the majority of religions you find out there will be on the same page of loving everyone. That's all we really need to do or at least try to do. :3

Is it just me or does it seem like people who break from organized religion tend to "think" more instead of throwing answers as "a matter of fact" kind of way that some overly religious people do?

Someone is going to misunderstand and think I'm insulting religious people.

No it's true. Some organized religions just pound it into your brain that you need to think this certain way or vote this certain way otherwise you're going against God! (Notice I say some, not all, however.)

It's like brainwashing if you ask me. And I think that is very, very wrong. I noticed that churches are using their power over people with God to push their own personal agendas nowadays.

One of the biggest ones I cannot stand it Pat Robertson and his little posse. I've seen his program a few times and I can't stand it. I always sit there wondering who's an actor and who's not on there and I always end up thinking they all have to be actors because this just can't be real. Bothers me too much...

Then I'm thinking to myself, WHY DO I HAVE TO LOVE THIS GUY!? Dx Thanks a lot Jesus with your whole love everyone including your enemies...dammit...

if yo love your enimies then they are not your enimies right they would be your friends

Usually when I hear someone mention God I tune them out and ignore everything they say. People like Sean Hannity, Bill O'reilly and such who mention "good" and "god" side by side. Well, frankly they infuriate me and make me look down on Christians in general. You can be a good person without having a god. I'm a prime example, I'm a good guy, I have my flaws but overall I'm a good guy.

I'm atheist. I used to be Catholic, but I changed after I saw how people used "GOD" as an excuse for war, an excuse for killing, a excuse for their so called "mercy".

Also, I hate the "I'm right because I believe in God" thinking that many followers of religion seem to pertain. It gets on my nerves, and whenever I see those fundamentalist guys on the street carrying hugeass signs(there were two of theme at fanime this year if I recall.) I just try ignore them their persuasions.

Also, organized religions tend to think to strongly along the lines of some kind of absolute right. By this I mean, when a person in religious power writes that so-so is wrong, they tend to become brainwashed by this "absolute right".

And why the hell do you NEED to believe in God to be happy. It makes no sense to me

Oh, I know you can be good without God or any other deity, I just happen to believe in a deity.

(I'm not too fond of Bill myself. Some stuff I agree with him on, like when it comes to child rapists/murderers but that's about it...) :/

I used to be a strong atheist for about 6 years myself. I just had a deep, personal, life experience that changed my thoughts on that subject.

@ Catcher: It's not that we NEED God to be happy. I just feel happier in my life, being close to my God since I became a Christian. I was miserable, hateful and very angry when I was an atheist in the past.

Now I am a very happy individual since I came to accept God and Jesus in my life.

I'm not saying anyone else should though.

People need to do what makes them happy. And if being an atheist makes you happy then that's your choice. I wouldn't ask for you to be anything else.

I think I've stated it before; your view of Christianity is very close to my own, I'm glad I'm not the only one who believes in God and his son on these forums; I've been outnumbered by atheist for a while now.
