I've seen most of the Original Idolmaster, but what is this to that? a sequel?

Pseudo Sequel. It's in a time frame where the original girls are already famous, and this one focuses on a different agency, the 346 Productions (Mishiro).

Episode 1 has aired.

Slow Start, but Good build up, Also I love that the New Producer is almost the exact opposite of the original Producer, feels Fresh.
