This is a topic about all that GITS. I recently ordered the whole GITS series, and started to watch for a second time. As for the first movie, it wasn't that bad, but I prefer the series much more. Althought the first series have for someone rather clumsy graphic, in the second series, this problem is solved, I think.
Who's not familiar with GITS, it's a sci-fi anime with no big eyes, clumsy and cute scenes, and the whole anime has a though-provoking aura. The story is about the modern society, where terrorism, politics, and problems that nowadays present. And in the robe of the deep ideas of GITS, the whole anime is about the problem of, that what will happen, if the whole society's thought and all information on the world would be accessible every single person in the Earth. The name of the anime "Stand Alone Complex" mean, that in a world where information is already common, what happen for people whose not participants of the whole.
I don't want to write anymore about GITS, everyone watch it!

Dude what do you think about teh live action version coming out for it?
i was kinda hoping for that idea to come true, after all, the series very much resembles fictional film blade runner in several ways, it'd be more compatible with reality films than Dragon Ball live action or Code Geass live action.
well u never know, as long as they don't mess up on the cast crew and the story line, everything might go well

I think GHost is prob the only one of its kind that may be able to fall into a good live action. Just maybe.

I think the actions can be made well done in the real life but when we talk about the cyborgs.....
Terminator comes to mind. They have to make a terminator like effects in order to make GITS work properly in real life.

Hm *facepalm* why didn`t i create this Thread. Gits should have been mentioned long time ago.
I love Masamune Shirows Works, exspecially Ghost in the Shell.
The Timeline of the Serie is stated before the Puppetmaster incident and also provides some Background informations over the other Members of Public Peace Section 9.

GITS:3nd BEST GRAPHIC QUALITY EVER.
2nd place:one of its movies,innocence
1st place:samurai 7.
but overall,gits have a very good story,too.
not to mention that those thing happenin' in it could be very well happenin' in the near future.

About the live action, I think the same, that maybe this is (almost) the only anime, which can turn out to be a good live action. But at the present time, I more interested in the 3rd series. I hope they finish quickly.
I also recommend the GITS games. They're not perfect, but the two GITS game (on PS2, and PSP) have a good story, so I think they worth it. They have no connection to the series or movies whatsoever.
And about GITS, their creators have an awesome CG, cel-shaded movie, called Appleseed. Anyone watched yet? The graphics, effects, and the story have grabbed me without hesitation.

There was a game in the PS1.I played it but not too long.It stars Tachikoma in the game.Unfortunately, I never could lay a hand on the PS1 version, but I think the other two is well-made.

Love GITS. Actually it is my favorite anime out there I think. I really loved the setting and the "depth" of the story (i.e. not the simple good wins over bad pattern).
