I just saw the first episode of Requiem from the Darkness and I'm already hooked. There's only 13 episodes and its fucking awesome.

I give Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha my highest recommendation.

Picture everything that is good about Bleach and everything that is good about Card Captor Sakura. Now smash them together, stick what's left in a blender and set it to puree. That's MGLN season 1, 13 episodes with two more seasons you can watch if you like what you see.

Rozen Maiden is also a really good show, also 13 episodes. This one's kinda like Pinocchio meets Highlander. Weird combo, I know, but it works really well, and that's without the personal growth aspect of the plot.

I never liked Bleach and never will but I did watch card captures a lot back in the day so I'm gonna take a looksy at this one.

Make sure you stick with it until at least episode 4; the series doesn't really pick up until Fate shows up. Prior to that, it's mostly standard magical girl fare (complete with monsters of the week), used to build up Nanoha as a character before siccing her on the meat of the plot.

At first I didn't really like Bleach either, but its just slow on the uptake. The first season is pretty slow, but after that the action really starts to pick up. Even though there are a good number of fillers, a lot of them are actually pretty good, they're a good mix of emotional depth and humor. As for most recent season, it got everything. I've been marathoning the fuck out of it and I really can't wait until the April 9th when the next episode comes out.
Spoiler:
I've been waiting so long to see Grimmjow release Pantera in the anime and he's finally going to do it in the next episode.

How about StrikerS?

StrikerS had a lot of strong points--Subaru, Vivio, and the Blaster System, just to name a few--but overall I found it wasn't up to par with A's and Classic. Still a good series, but the pacing was too slow and there wasn't nearly enough action. And what action there was was often somewhat sub-par. Fate's Sonic Drive, anyone? She actually seemed a good bit slower than her original Sonic Form was in A's.

Episode 17 kicked ass, though. Berserker Subaru was awesomely intense for those few minutes we saw her.

Strikers was ok.

And who could forget this scene?

Berserker Scene + Dragon + Fate 3rd Form
