Name for Anime Fans
0
People in the Furry community are called furry or furries but it seems that we Anime Fans don't have a name for what we like. Psh, you could go for nerd or otaku but the former is just no anime specific and the latter's connotation has been screwed with as it's meant to be demeaning from what I remember. Also it usually is more for fans who are deeply into it.
So yeah, do we stick with otaku or what.

I don't mind the tag otaku but yet it a minefield on semantics and rage threads on the use of otaku on the non japanese even if your ethnicity is japanese. Even though the following are the terms used... it a grab bag of 4chan terms which where dub from the original 2chan posts on the west and what the hell do we call them.
Weebs
Weeaboo
Anime fan
Animer
Now names for the animer that mental.
Desu weeafag
Fucktard weeafag
Gaia fuck weeb
ect ect.

We should change from Otaku, cause that could relate to all people who like games and such furrfags furries, are just furry people... Although I don't really care, at my school i dont want to be known as an otaku, because they associate me as a weeb, like "outcast island" at my school.d

Animeniacs...? j/k
Anyway, I kind of like Anifan. At first, I was thinking more or less the same thing, but in my case it was Anifen (Anime + Fan, but all of anime's vocals). Anithusiast sound good as well.

I liked Anifan more than Anikuza lol.
Although I doubt these names that are made will get commonly used in the future...

Just anime fan is fine. Being an otaku is actually an extremely bad thing, if you understand what the true otaku types are. These people are treated with derision in Japan, why would you want to associate with them?

These people are treated with derision in Japan, why would you want to associate with them?A name is just a name dude. A name means nothing without the person who uses it. Therefore any name can be what you define it to be. That is why slang exists and that is why I consider myself an otaku. Japan can say what they want and use it however they want but here in America we laugh at that attempt. Or at-least I do...
Also: I consider an otaku who is the following.
-Interested in Japan or asian culture.
-Interested in Anime/manga from Japan.
-Interested in video games
As for furry people, I don't really consider them Otaku because their fetish clashes with the norm. lets just called them "Animal fanatics".

Otaku just means geek or extremely obsessed. There are gun otakus, health otakus, video game otakus, pretty much otakus for everything.Hell, you can probably call all those twilight girls and their moms otakus.

I'm not sure what I am. I hate the term "weeaboo" because they are most definitely not the pride of the anime fandom. If they want to be like that however, then whatever. Let em' do what they want. I just like anime and think Japan is interesting. However, I consider myself on the road to otaku-ness, as I am starting to collect much anime stuff.
