You forgot...
Anime: 4kids
Manga: Yen Press, Seven Seas, Aurora, and some other Yaoi publisher (how come girls get their yaoi but we don't get our yuri?) what about Dark Horse or do they just translate every thing asian?
I think Viz and Del Rey are good. Yen press is still good and Aurora has only published one thing I've seen so far so I can't say about them

DelRey is definitely awesome. I've only read one thing they published (Genshiken), but they do such a great job with it, using the original suffixes like -san and -kun and explaining little jokes and parodies that even the most hardcore otaku may not get.
Funimation is pretty damn good when it comes to dubbing and releasing series. Even if you hate dubs, you can enjoy most of Funimation's stuff.

The internet.
But to be honest, I'm pretty fond of ADV. For manga, it's SJ and DelRay only because they have the manga series that I decide to follow.

All of these companies have their good traits.
Del Rey: I compare this with top quality - it's manga never fails (as in great manga series), and their translations are topnotch. (This is how you spell Del Rey)
Tokyopop: The biggest supplier of manga, period. And they also support up and coming manga artists - their site is great, but a bit messy to navigate.
VizMedia: supports some of the best manga/anime out there.
Funimation: the biggest supplier of anime I believe.
ADV: supports some of the best manga/anime out there, and it's dubs are usually top-notch.
