A quick update for Weekly Kairakuten:

For now we'll receive the chapters on a monthly basis, which basically means you can think of it as a second issue of the regular Kairakuten. This will likely change to a weekly format in the future, but we're doing this to start out. I expect us to get the chapters in early August, so that's when we can start releasing them.

Remember that this is a brand new magazine and release format in Japan, so there might still be some things that we have to figure out as we go along. I'll keep you updated on any new changes, and apologize for the confusion.

The delay for Weekly Kairakuten sucks, but it's good to know it's still coming.

This is very cool. The ongoing story focus for a couple of these is great. Will certainly consider subbing again.

Just wanted to follow up with Weekly Kairakuten - we're still waiting for data from Japan on this. There's a few external issues (nothing bad, just the waiting game) but as soon as we have data we'll start releasing content

Hello,

Any updates on Comic Dascomi? Can we still expect releases from it this summer? There is only about a month before fall begins and from the looks of it, Comic Dascomi is already on Vol. 2.

Also, any updates on Comic Happining Vol 1.?

I wanted to focus on the first two volumes of Aoha and Happining 2-4 before starting anything else. Those are 75% done by this point, so we started processing the data for the first two issues of Dascomi today. Assuming there are no surprises with the data, we should start releasing the first chapters from that next month.

No further news on Happining at the moment.

Here's probably the final update needed on the new magazines:

After a lot of back and forth, we finally have everything sorted with Weekly Kairakuten, and we now have the data for the first two months. It turns out the way this magazine is handled in Japan is each chapter is split into parts and released weekly, but since we get them monthly for the time being, we won't do that. For instance, Esuke had parts of a chapter published weeks 1+2 and 5+6, but we'll combine the parts and release them as two longer chapters (56 pages in total). I've updated the preview sticky with previews for the first two issues.

Secondly, as it relates to the new magazines, I want to quickly touch upon the changes made to our older magazines. While Shitsurakuten and X-Eros went bi-monthly, they unfortunately are released on the same month, meaning there's now an ebb and flow of content on alternating months. To give an example, last month we received data for Kairakuten, BEAST, Shitsurakuten, X-Eros, Bavel, and Aoha, whereas this month we'll only get data for Kairakuten, BEAST, and Bavel. Once again, this has no effect on the actual output of releases on the site (at least not a negative one), but it meant we had to delay the release of Dascomi due to the influx of content. As things calm down for the next month (our "months" kinda start around the 15th due to the way the magazines are released), we should be able start releasing Dascomi and Weekly Kairakuten soon (with the first chapter scheduled for this weekend).

Is it really necessary to repackage the releases this way? I've always liked how all of your releases are associated with the magazine they originally came from in Japan. If the individual chapters are being broken up into parts and you think it makes sense to publish those parts at the same time I would agree with you, but it would be nice to still see it posted as individual parts associated with the original weekly magazines, rather than repackaging them into made up "monthly weekly"s.

I admit I'm one of the crazy people who would like an option to be able to read the completed magazines packaged up into a single view, despite being fully aware that the magazines are just a collection of assorted stories without any overall structure.

The data we're given comes as single chapters, so we're actually releasing them they way they are. I see no reason for us to delay the release of each chapter by splitting it into smaller parts. As for your second point, I think it makes more sense to have one monthly issue with 8 full length chapters, than four issues of 3 chapters each that only include the first/second half of a story. Again, we're not combining multiple chapters; these are single chapters that were cut into 2-3 parts in Japan. We were given the full chapters, so I believe the best thing to do is release them in their entirety.

I wasn't really suggesting you delay the release of chapters, just that you post the them as two pieces instead of one. But given the nature of the actual source material I can see your point that it doesn't make much sense to do that just to try and precisely duplicate the Japanese release structure. I guess a big difference is that unlike the other stuff here, this isn't really a true magazine so much as just a weekly online drop of new material.
