What goes into deciding which magazines to publish?

1
I guess this post is directed more towards the FAKKU staff. There's some questions you guys probably can't or won't answer but here's just a few of my curiosities regarding magazines and their publishers. Just a few off the top of my head in no particular order:

1 )What kind of criteria you guys use to deciding which series to publish? Is it more or less you take whoever will work with you or are you guys more selective? And how receptive are the publishers willing to work with you?
2) How many other publishers are you guys talking to who might come on board?
3) Are there any genres that you guys shy away from or off limits? ie. Comic Lo / Comic Rin?
4) What is the end goal of the number of magazines you guys want to have on rotation?
5) Just how many major publishers are in the business and how many monthly or quarterly magazine series are there?

Oh and please somehow get Comic Tenma on the rotation. Urushihara Satoshi is amazing...

As you predicted, we can't go into too much details on this topic, but I can give you a broad answer.

We have established relationships with practically all major ero manga publishers in Japan. There are a few who are simply not interested in international releases, but the rest are in general very eager to work with us—this goes for both publishers and individual artists. Just the other week another publisher expressed interest in us. I would estimate we have close to 10 magazines we could pick up right away if we had the resources for it. These seven magazines are about what we can handle at the moment with our current staff and methods, but we will pick up more in the future as long as the subscription service continues to grow.

As far as genres go, we wanted to start with something with a broad appeal. We only had two magazines at first, so it made sense to pick two of the most popular ones. Since we can't pick up every magazine right away and have to be selective, it's most beneficial for everyone that we bring over titles that the majority can enjoy. We are however beginning to dip into more niched genres now that we have a robust lineup, and Girls forM is the first example of that.

I can't tell you how many publishers and magazines that exist of the top of my head, but I'd say somewhere around a dozen publishers and at least 30+ magazines (not all monthly). New magazines are also constantly launched and some older ones shut down. Unfortunately, Comic Tenma is an example of a long-running magazine that had to shut down last year (in no small part due to piracy, from what I've been told). We're much more likely to pick up an active magazine (newer content + easier to contact the artists), so hopefully some of those artists move on to another magazine that we can pick up.

In short, we want FAKKU to be the go-to place for anything hentai. It's a lofty goal, but with your continued support, we hope to get there some day.
