[Locked] A clarification on a certain rule
0
Okay, so this is about the "Do not post in other language"rule.
First of all, the rule stated, "do NOT create a thread in any other language other than English". Now let me break it down. According to the phrasing of the statement, it does NOT forbid user to post in a different language [other than English]. Specifically, it ONLY forbids the usage if any other language than English during the creation of the thread itself, not the the posts that follow after. To be simply put, that rule only puts a language restriction on the OP, not the posts after it. Of course, if we follow the meaning of the phrase.
However, a certain moderator insisted that this rule applies on all post, not only the opening thread, or widely known as the "OP". This clearly contradicts the rule itself. Of course, people should already know the difference of "thread" and "post", don't they?
My point is, please do a review, or if needed, revision(s) on the rule(s) to avoid misunderstanding. Well, this is the only dubious rule-phrasing I've found so far, but I'd be glad to point out some if I found some other.
Best regards.

The main reason why we do not allow or encourage users to post in other languages is because Fakku is essentially an English-based site and community.
A long time ago, when certain users posted repeatedly in a thread using Filipino (or was it Indonesian? Pardon my poor memory), other members, who had no knowledge of the language, were omitted from the discussion. Furthermore, there are 2 issues which the management is concerned with:
1) It may set a precedent, whereby other users begin to post in their mother tongues or native languages instead of English.
2) There is a small possibility that these foreign languages may be used to flame or insult other users, without the victims being aware of the situation.
Thus, we would urge all users to post in English, not just in the opening post, but all other posts as well.
Thank you for your kind understanding and cooperation.

Clarification accepted. Then you should change the rule to, "do NOT post in any other language other than English." That ought to dismiss all the speculation.
Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for the clarification.
Thank you for notifying us. I have made some minor changes to that particular aspect of the Rules and FAQ topics.

Awesome. Now can you lock this thread, please? Everything that need to be said has been pointed out.
