Animated Banner

i think it's not a bad idea to improve the FAKKU banner.

i mean,to make it animated and looks beautiful.

it would attract people to join our forum.

so far,this just my idea.

Not trying to shoot every idea you have with a sniper rifle, but I hate flash animations on websites.

Sites should be functional and unassuming. They should not assume that the user has enough CPU to render a flash animation constantly. Even on my high end computers, I'm not comfortable with letting a flash waste my cycles. My old 1Ghz desktop I used to never access any sites with flash content, because it would then stall. And not everyone has broadband internet still, there are countries that rely on 56kb/s modems and poor students who find it more cost effective. I used to use dial up, and I was angry at flash sites.

Mmmh. Sure, we're heading towards 'Web 3.0" but I still think that we shouldn't abuse any technology we have.

I'm happy to discuss this in detail if someone can make a compelling argument aside from "It's flashy and everyone should be up to date".

Animated banners are cool and can attract people with it. But it makes the page somewhat a bit laggy. Well, it is to me^^

maybe,yes. but to think of it. almost a year we didnt change the banner which makes it a little.. *ehem* boring to see the same thing..

it's ok if it's not animated. but maybe we can use the right box (motemote vote box) to make a flash animation,about recent update,new moderator,etc.

not only just inviting outer people,but also makes fakku looks more cheerful and colourful. (honestly,i've been sitting 24 hours non-stop watching fakku. seems like my eyes gets a little blurry).

They do change the banner! They change characters and the background sometimes^^

I'm not for animated banner either. I like the one we have now and I love how it changes and there's new characters on it all the time. An animated banner would be too flashy and probably get on my nerves after awhile.

i'm not demanding it to be too flashy though.

just a light flashy things,to show FAKKU can be colorful and cheerful aside being only coloured red and white.

looking at the finalxxxfantasy.com,their banner color is suited. i feel relaxed by the blueish image of Rinoa..

(maybe we can made the blueish image of Jacob in our banner?)

I don't think you should really be demanding anything, really.

oh? why? i think if you're not blind,you can see in my first post. it's only an idea,not demanding anything to change.

since fakku needs some improve,aside from the search system,making this sites more colorful might attract people to use some of our unused features such as "view your last post",etc.

since many of people in here dont really use that feature.

that banner example looked pretty good, but usually i block flash animations anyway, since it just needlessly lags the page

Personally I dislike flash in websites. My opinion is that it should only be used if it needs to be used. Hibia made very very good points so there is no reason to repeat them.

The most I would ever do is make the banner an animated gif for a laugh.
