Does anyone else think the *hentai* tag is useless?

In Japanese, Hentai literally means pervert. As seen in the anime Ore No Imouto ga konna ni wake ga nai when kirino calls her brother "baka baka hentai" or "stupid idiot pervert". Echi, being a euphemism for sex. Such as in "onichan, don't do echi things to me." For fakku and animated sexual purposes however, hentai refers to sexual content while echi refers to non sexual(role reversal). Fakku already has an echi tag, thus making a "hentai" tag useless. If you agree, disagree, or are somewhere in between, please state your opinion here.

And you're right the hentai tag is useless. Because of the ecchi tag. But Jacob wants it there. So there's nothing we can do about it.

I don't think it's useless, some people will want to separate the hentai from the ecchi stuff. While there isn't anywhere near as much ecchi as there is hentai, it's still there. It isn't doing any harm having it there, only functioning as an additional feature that only helps.

That's what the ecchi tag is for. And since a doujinshi can't have both hentai and ecchi, it's useless.

Only problem is that it doesn't help anyone.

As in some people may want to filter out the ecchi stuff from their searching, and by clicking the 'hentai' tag or just searching hentai they can do that and not have any ecchi stuff come up. Vice versa. Some people are searching for purely hentai material.

That's what the "-" function is for. Writing "-ecchi" in the search bar will remove all the ecchi doujinshi.

I didn't even know that. Well, then it is pretty pointless. It's still not a bother to me though. Well OP's suggestion won't be put into force any time soon. There's other more important priorities to be fulfilled by Jacob before that as we know.

I think what happened was it was added on the spur of the moment, with out really thinking it through. then the harsh backlash that came right after, caused a bit of bruised ego. now, despite the public outcry and rational arguments against, pride is all that keeps it in place. at this point, the unwillingness to change it is more because the mistake was in a public setting than because they believe it was the right thing to do.
