I was gonna buy some manga and a skateboard... Now what am I gonna hang over my couch in my apartment??

How long should we expect to wait?

And was this solely the storefront that went offline, the payment processing, or both?
How much information is there to give (or that Fakku can funds) on this issue?

As far as digital releases of Books are concerned, could Bookwalker be a viable retailer in the meantime? Your backlog there hasn't been updated since last year.

Man fuck the USA. For some reason the country still operates on 1600s puritan morals. "Boobs and sex is bad" Im really sick of it. The whole country loves sex, but are also so ass fucked by outdated religious bullshit that no one wants to admit it. I cant wait till all the old boomers die off, so maybe we can move past the "Think of the children" mentality where people freak out at the mere mention of human nipple.

Honestly, for a country that likes to brag about freedoms, they're very proudly clinging to the values of their first puritan settlers. Always remember, the puritans didn't leave Europe because they were too progressive - they left because they were too conservative even for the British.

This is purely the result of the continued crusade against 18+ content by mainstream tech platforms.

Will you tell us the whole story when the time is right? Who's behind the crusade in particular?

My money is that there are contractual obligations/disputes that may be happening. It sucks for us that they cant be clear, but being too forthright may prevent them from being able to get a new contract.

I think the current storefront was only like 2 years old, the old storefront appeared to be almost a completely separate website.

From the info I found during the OnlyFans debacle, Payment processors that are aimed at adult only make you pay a very very high premium for substandard support/service.

So the hosting platform probably had to ditch porn because VISA and MC threatened to stop allowing for them

Sounds about right. The same thing happened with OnlyFans, yet they were somehow able to recover.

Just to clarify, if I buy a book from one of the listed retail partners, it does not come with a digital edition like the ones purchased directly from the Fakku store, right?

No, paperbacks bought outside of FAKKU’s site do not come with digitals.

...Says the one buying art made in a country that censors every instance of a vagina and penis. I can't quite comprehend how oblivious you are.

When did I say that I agree with Japanese censorship? I dont. Its why I buy uncensored stuff from here. I dont agree with any kind of censorship, no matter what country its from. Dont say things for people, let them say it for themselves.

If we purchase physical copies from any of the linked website will they qualify for a digital copy as well?

No. When you buy from FAKKU directly, you have the option to either buy the digital version or to buy both the digital and physical versions together. So, either way, you're explicitly buying the digital version, and there is no qualifying for anything. When you buy from anywhere else, you're simply buying a copy of the physical version, and the digital version is not involved at all. It's not like the physical version comes with a code to get the digital version (like happens with some books - particularly technical ones) or anything of the sort. You're simply buying the physical book.

So, while you could buy some of FAKKU's older books from stores like Right Stuf right now, you'll have to wait for FAKKU to sort out their store in order to buy any of their stuff digitally, and for FAKKU's most recent stuff, you'll have to wait regardless, because the digital versions come out months before the physical books.

I'm well aware of these things. I asked because I know that if you buy a book from a convention that FAKKU is participating in you can email customer support with an image of the physical books and they add the digital versions to your account. Since the store is down I was wondering if maybe they would possibly be willing to do something like that for people who want to purchase physical books right now. If they don't that's fine I can wait, I was just curious.

Hopefully this gets sorted out fairly soon. Was gonna buy some stuff right after the 2D Market sale ended but alas, we're all stuck waiting.

The whole "think of the children" mentality that a lot of hosting and commerce services have is ridiculous to me. How dare there be an online storefront where people can pay artists for their work without whatsoever interacting with the highly exploitative porn industry. It almost feels like even if you play by the rules of these moral gatekeepers, you still get shafted.

Except that the people who are doing this are not motivated by religion, at all. Since when were Mainstream tech platforms known to cater to (rather than tolerate) religious extremists?

I get the sentiment behind what you said though. Mainstream tech platforms legit need to fuck right off and quit trying to tell everyone what they can and cant do.

Yeah. What brought this whole thing on was that Pornhub and Onlyfans had massive problems moderating their platforms; they both had rampant problems with CP because of the fact that anyone could upload to the websites, and not enough moderation was there to fix it. So, Pornhub went and nuked non-verified accounts (Meaning you had to be part of the industry somehow to have an account). Onlyfans temporarily delayed its ban of adult content, but its likely that if the problem continues, the ban will eventually come.

Because of this issue with CP on adult websites, payment processors like Visa and Mastercard have gone scorched earth and refused to do business with most adult websites to prevent possible cases of being open to liability. The same goes for server hosts, as they can run into the same problem.

This is also the same reason that tumblr and ebay banned porn from their websites, just fyi.

So no, contrary to what some people on this thread think; it's not motivated by religious fundies or what ever the fuck, that's just them talking out of their asses. The mainstream tech platforms and payment processors are doing this to protect themselves from potential legal problems. I do not agree with going scorched earth on porn (I think it's an absolute bullshit move, yet another reason I hate major tech platforms), but no major platform been willing to hire a big enough moderation team to verify that content being uploaded is legal or not.

Twitter is actually having the same problem since they allowed porn on their website; but since they are also one of the biggest tech platforms on the internet, they have much more leeway.

Its pisses me off to no end that all types of explicit content get lumped together. Like sure, some of the stuff on Fakku might not be legal in some countries, which is why we can opt to hide controversial content, but it makes zero fucking sense that drawings get conflated with real people.

I have to disagree on one point though. It's not that major platforms aren't willing to hire massive moderation teams. It's that in most cases, especially with porn sites that take the youtube approach to uploading, it's logistically impossible to hire and pay enough moderators to take care of such massive volumes of content. I hate to say it but, the only feasible way to avoid illegal pornography is to have a zero-tolerance policy, or to make age verification mandatory for uploaders, which we've already seen happen with tumblr and pornhub respectively.
