How to delete a thread

This is a miniature extension to Loner's "how to post" thread.
I've noticed quite a few (usually new) users attempting to delete their threads for various reasons, like when they get flamed, are posted in the wrong forum section, or unwittingly posted in I.B leading the thread to get derailed, resulting in active topic-less threads.
If you're the Topic Creator
Just press the
button on the Opening Post and you're done.
If however, your thread generates responses from other users, you no longer have the power to delete your thread yourself. If you try to, you'll only delete your Opening Post and the thread itself stays active. It's not meant to happen, (in fact as Tegs states, it's a bug) but unfortunately it does. So instead of trying to delete the thread, use the
button and ask politely for it to be locked or deleted.
Note:- The report button can also be used for moving and locking threads, not just deleting them.
If you are not the Topic Creator
If anyone finds a thread that's had it's Opening Post deleted because the Topic Creator tried to delete their thread, don't hesitate to report the first post regardless of who posted in it first. A thread without an OP is like a human without a brain; DEAD AS THE DODO.
Happy postin'!

I've noticed it a lot too Gravity. I think you can have your thread deleted after someone has posted in it by just clicking the report button as well.
Edit: I had my username changed, you might wanna change the name of your link.

PLEASE use the report function when you wish a thread of yours deleted when it has replies, trying to pm mods can take more time and some of us do get quite a few pm's already.

Do you by any chance know how to delete a forum after the OP is deleted?Report the first post, we may lock or delete it unless it's taken new life as another thread.

Wait. I've got this. Consume lots of beer, then pretend it doesn't exist. Better?

i think that thats the best option
its the best way to avoid those annoying arguments that are totally pointless, and ive seen some pretty bad ones that came out of a stupid thing
someone was continuasly pressisting that manga art should be made exclusively by japanese people, humph, dummass
fortunatly, it wasnt here in fakku

Bumping this thread so this thread will be on the top.
That way the newbies can read it along with Loner's.

If people are always going to bump it up (it's been three times now), how about just sticking it ? Or adding it to the FAQ since it's aimed at newbies ?
Edit: After taking a look at the "How to post" thread's comments, I'll just say I hope both of these will be put in one and stickied.

Dunno about merging them. Loner and I talk about different things. If something's TL;DR people have a habit of not caring or bothering to read.
