This is a miniature extension to
Loner's
"how to post" thread.
I've noticed quite a few (usually new) users attempting to delete their threads for various reasons, like when they get flamed, are posted in the wrong forum section, or unwittingly posted in I.B leading the thread to get
derailed, resulting in active topic-less threads.
If you're the Topic Creator
- You can only delete your thread if nobody has responded to it.
Just press the
button on the Opening Post and you're done.
If however, your thread generates responses from other users,
you no longer have the power to delete your thread yourself. If you try to, you'll only delete your Opening Post and the thread itself stays active. It's not meant to happen, (in fact as Tegs states,
it's a bug) but unfortunately it does. So instead of trying to delete the thread, use the
button and ask politely for it to be locked or deleted.
Note:- The report button can also be used for moving and locking threads, not just deleting them.
If you are not the Topic Creator
If anyone finds a thread that's had it's Opening Post deleted because the Topic Creator tried to delete their thread, don't hesitate to report the first post regardless of who posted in it first. A thread without an OP is like a human without a brain;
DEAD AS THE DODO.
Happy postin'!
