Imagebam Issues

The last time I went to imagebam via a link in the nosebleed section, I got a virus that crippled my computer and cost a LOT to fix. Since a large number of images on this site are hosted on imagebam, this is a problem when I want to see an image as more than just a tiny thumbnail. I'm not sure what I can do to circumvent this, so does anyone have a suggestion or am I doomed to only look at images posted full-sized in nosebleed?
If nothing else I hope to at least make people aware of this problem so it doesn't happen to someone else.
Oh, and since this is my first post, please forgive me if I've overlooked a rule when posting this.

Do you have any suggestions for anti-virus software? I use free avast anti-virus. As for ad-blocking, I don't know if I've got anything for that...
