Yeah he moderated the Artist and Circle Information forum, he still pops in from time to time.

@Jacob: Thanks for finding my comments useful... haven't been surfing the net and posting in forums for nothing; hoped it helped. However, the problem that multiple threads with the same subject exists. It's just a matter of reorganization then anything else. On the subject of moderators, I still believe we need a couple, like 3-4. In regards to the Fakku posting rules, many of them have been violated, especially people who post three or four words and it counts as a post - wth? More often than not, I see a bit of trolling and flaming going on in some threads... and the problem is that it's between the Fakku elites vs. themselves or newcomers. I don't believe this kind of thing should continue to go on, but it hasn't reached a level that's unmanagable. The need for moderators I guess for now isn't necessary, but I fear we'll need them soon.
I definitely want to take steps to improve the quality of posts on the forum but haven't figured out how, and having more moderators (although we do need some) probably wouldn't do that.

Another thing I've noticed is the repetition of threads that share the same subject that are located in different sections of this forum. The motemote battles seem to have a thread in the news section as well as the obvious motemote section... and Fakku translations have cropped in this section of the forum as well as the manga/translation section. I'm also not quite too sure, but apparently the comments posted on the main page appear in the news section of the forum, which I find to be redundant and space consuming. I'm kinda jealous but happy for her.)Going back to this, and yes I'm double posting, I should and probably will have the main page news pull from both the News forum and the FAKKU Translation forum, this way only one topic is made about the release and discussion of our translations.

Hmm... I think I might have found another reason for having moderators in Fakku. I've seen some threads that have the same subject matter more than once. (e.g. the new mecha subforum category - 2 threads exist that talk about what's your favorite mecha.) I've also seen threads that should be in one section but are instead in another. (e.g. the serious discussion about best Gundam pilot/mecha should be placed in the new mecha subforum category.)
I also find the user uploads section a mess to navigate. Also related to membership, I can't seem to find a memberlist link anywhere, and though I have located a possible link after clicking my own profile then the "memberlist" link, it leads me back to some image section with forum section links. I was wondering if a memberlist page can be erected for user-search. People can rearrange how the list looks like by 1, most/least posts, 2, most/least recent post, 3, Fakku status, and so on. That way, people can see who's actually in the forum and those who are more respected. (Well, after hanging and posting around for a couple days, I have an idea on those who are respected.) Summing up, I believe that the main page commentary system should be separate from the forums and should not require a person to become a member, as well as some forum thread reorganization/cleanup. (By now I really can't think of anything else to suggest for this forum other than an occasional/optional color/genre theme for the forum skin, akin to something that www.anidb.net features for members of the website.) I hope this helps making the forum a better place.
I'm guessing you weren't a member of the site about three months ago when we had the old news system. It allowed anonymous commenting and the news and comments were completely separate from the forum. We had that system for a little over a year.
We changed to this system, where a news post is created in the News category by the admin and then it is automatically displayed on the main page. It is a lot easier for us and easier for users who frequent the forums and don't have to use a different system to comment on the news. And with anonymous commenting we would have to add a CAPTCHA of some sort to the comments, and I think it is just easier and more beneficial to the site to have people register.
You know you could have used the old news system still if i was here 3 months ago because i know the news system you did use for the site and i could have just taken out the old admin section for the news and added a section in admin page for the forums where you could post news from there and I could have changed the script around a little so you have to be logged in to post comments. Never did it with these forums but i could. I have done with VBulletin and SMF forums before!

I personally like the forum the way it is but if one section needs work its the User Uploads Section.

Well, at least certain improvements are now going underway. Hope to see more changes in the near future. As of now, the moderator issue is being addressed as well as a general forum uplift.
I hope to see other things get addressed in due time: memberlist, better reorganization of the forums and threads, quick reply post function, elite-status quirks, reputation issues, and auto login issues.
All of this will make this forum so kickass, it won't be funny. Good stuff.

Okay, I was a good girl this time and used the search feature and decided this thread was good enough to post what I had to say.
So I made elite in... almost a week? :?
I had a few suggestions to that, since I've been reading it seems like Fakku is in a good growth spurt? Why not raise the amount of posts a bit higher. 250 to elite and then 750 more posts until you get the next rank. Why not just make it a bit more of an even gap, or just change the numbers completely?
I feel bad that I made it to 'elite' so fast. It's not a very eliteful feeling. At first when I came here I thought 'elite' were mods.
Or another idea would be to make an area in the sections that doesn't effect the counter of posts. Like those threads 'this or that' '3 word posts' 'random questions' those kinds of threads. They add up quickly, and it seems people (including myself) enjoy them.
I also thought about ventrillo. Lots of people start just.. talking random all together (Myself included), and it might be fun to set something up where people with mics can get on and talk. Saves some pointless banters on the forums and might clean up a few things.

The elite thing has been raised before, and I'm happy you, as a new user, raised it again. Perhaps we can all poke Jacob in the ribs until it's different.

Ventrillo, eh. A few older users have used Skype before, but it turns into fuckery with people like me dominating a conversation with my robotic laggy voice, and it's quite hard to hear people when we're all nattering. Plus, it sucks a lot of time. ;_; Who knows, I'll keep my ear open on the subject.

Pretty awesome that a new user brought up this issue. I agree and have always meant to raise it for some reason I just never did.
That being said I just raised the post count to get Elite status to 500. We'll start with that.

I was also thinking about reputation. A person with 20+ rep points obviously has been here for a while and has achieved some respect by the fellow Fakku community, to me that would be more elite then the amount of posts they do. Like someone said earlier in another thread it's quality not quantity. What if the elites and elders are based on rep points instead?
But thank you for taking my suggestion into consideration and upping the post number for elite. :)

You know, there should be something done about the amount of "recommendation" threads that pop up in the Manga/Doujinshi/Videos section. Half of the time I'm in that section, there's always a thread about "recommend me something" or "Are there any of ____" or "I'm looking for something like ____". It's getting annoying and I'm sure the moderators don't want to keep relocating those threads. (Or delete them because hell, they don't read the stickies and rules, that's their own damn fault.) Maybe there should be a sticky in that forum stating that this is not a request/recommendation section but a discussion of H-related media.
