IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. By connecting to IRC, you connect to a server and then join a room.
I suppose to relate it to something that you may be more familiar with, think about MSN and its ability to have a conversation with lots of people in it. It's like that, except you don't know who most of them are.
And don't expect any of us to talk whenever you join. When I woke up a few days ago, I'd seen that you'd called in and said hi. I was asleep, and other users were doing their thing. My IRC client is on my server, so I can be in the chatroom and have my normal computer off and me being halfway around the world not using IRC.
tl;dr, If there's a conversation going on, it can be quite fun. Otherwise I'd get used to lurking or trying to strike up some conversation.

I was thinking of starting to jump on IRC. Should I? I really wanna.I'm around, but tempted to go to bed. If you do join in, be prepared for long silences or long conversations where you won't want to get up lest you miss something.
Most likely A).

Or maybe it's even in the IRC client options.
Good luck!

Most programs you use hide your IP address but I'm pretty sure no one here will try to track you down.

A dynamic IP address doesn't help much, and an IP address can normally only be used to find the ISP a user uses [which is normally country specific, so a normal search would probably only reveal a country as ambiguous as USA]

Yes, danger lurks in the shadows at every turn.

Hmm yeah, it'll all be fine. Haven't seen you in a while though, rukia92, so do come back soon. Can't have too much interesting conversation in IRC.
And don't worry, Hibia won't stalk you...for long...(lol, just kidding).
And to anyone else out there interested in joining us on multiplayer notepad, it's quite fun, if only to lurk for a bit. Though I must say, if you don't say anything interesting or constructive, ever, you may as well just lurk here till something catches your eye.
