making certain tags "invisible"
0
My intention is something fun and interesting. I believe the reason blacklisting is not a feature is because it hides an artists amazing work which is rude to ignore. What I want to suggest instead is to make certain tags hidden so the reader doesn't know what will be in the story.
An example would be the impregnation tag. It's a helpful way to know what's in a story so you can set it aside for someone else to enjoy, but it's also a spoiler. It tells the ending before you pick up the story.
It's a bit of a niche request but I hope others can see the appeal.

They plan to add something similar to tag blacklists at some point.
I'm not sure what practical purpose invisible - but not blacklisted - tags will serve. Your suggestion means the tag would still be there but appears to not be tagged with it, opening up the possibility of people getting tricked into reading something with tags they don't enjoy, or suggest tags it's already been tagged with that are just invisible, and just would kind of defeat the purpose. Then there's the notification system; if you don't get notified you miss out, and if you do get notified then that would spoil the piece anyway.

FireLoncka, that sounds like a terrible idea. If we can't blacklist stuff, fine, we just need to check a work's tags. Making certain tags invisible would mean that we would have no way of avoiding that content.
It amazes me how difficult it seems to be for some people to grasp this simple concept:
There are some things that people don't ever want to see.
This is not a case of "oh, I'm sure you'd actually like it, you just haven't seen the right thing yet to really get you into it," this is a case of "I am not in any way interested in this, and am, in fact, turned off by it. As such, I am not interested in ever seeing anything with this tag."

Oops. Terrible miscommunication. I'm not asking for tags to be invisible, I was proposing an OPTION to make them invisible similar to "black listing."
I completely believe tags are mandatory, especially for finding material that matches your kink. What I'm talking about his having a filter the DOESN'T HIDE COMICS but hides tags for spoiler purposes. I said it's niche because I'm sure a lot of people don't care about that, but I would enjoy it.

Then there's the issue of what exactly is considered a spoiler. Vanilla suggests there's a happy ending, so is that a spoiler? Creampie is nutting inside, so is that a spoiler? Those two are pretty common tags, so if they were hidden due to spoiler reasons that'd cause some issues. And if you're subscribed to a tag to get notified and it's a spoiler tag, if it doesn't proc you miss out and if it does proc you get spoiled anyway. Just kind of defeats the purpose.

For your first point, I personally don't search by tags. I usually look at what's new on the front page or what stories a lot of people really like OR other stories my favorite artists have made in the past. If I don't want to know that a girl is getting creampie then I wasn't going to search for it anyway.
second point, I do in fact think knowing that a girl is getting a creampie is a spoiler. Say the tags say "condom" and "creampie." Then I know that the sex starts with a condom and somewhere that condom gets taken off or broken, spoiled.
I would love to search for new stuff without knowing too much about it. So my kink is glasses, I wouldn't hide the glasses tag because I want to be informed of when a cutie with glasses is in the story. I would prefer however not to know if the story ends with a cumshot, creampie, or both. Maybe someone else gets turned off by cumshot so they won't hide it so that they know what they are getting into, that's okay too! I'm for giving the user options, not taking them away.

good question, I'm not sure. I guess the tag search option would still be there but the tag on the manga itself would just be invisible if that makes sense. Like I CAN search for manga with oral, but if I have the oral tag invisible then it would show all the manga with oral in them but not the tag.
