New FAKKU! Design Thread

This is where I will start to reveal elements of the new FAKKU! design. Anything shown here is not final and will probably be changed before the site goes live. But don't hesitate to criticize things and give suggestions. I will only post a few things to start and add things over the next dew days/weeks.

The first thing you will notice is that the site is much wider. I have increased the width from 806px to 960px. This for a lot more content to be shown on screen. The site was originally designed almost 3 years ago when 800x600 resolution monitors were still widely used, hopefully everyone is using a better resolution.

Here is a manga listing page, more specifically the FAKKU! Translations page. You'll notice that manga and videos are being displayed in the same results.



This is the new view manga page, you'll notice a lot of changes.



New menu items and additional drop downs, I'll probably get rid of the "User Groups" option once I figure out something better to put up there.



Front page of the forums, only changed slightly.

I suggest using the MoteMote winner in the banner. To give the reason of the contest being held. Heheehehe and the forum display is quite good

As a slight reminder, just make sure that the new FAKKU site and forum layout isn't too graphics-laden and bandwidth-heavy. Since the onslaught of new members, I've been getting those annoying error pages whenever I'm cruising this site and so has everyone else, old and new. Making the site less bandwidth-heavy would probably benefit many users as well when surfing the site with less frustration. (If I'm wrong, tell me - it might be that we need a new server to solve the overflow traffic problem.)

Changing the resolution size is a good move though, and I'm assuming we're keeping the 14 posts per page.

I have done a huge amount of "under the hood" work that will make the site load significantly faster and all of the pages smaller. So that won't be a problem anymore.

The button under your profile that is supposed to list 'all your created topics' ...well it would be awesome if it actually did that. Will that be fixed at all? I know it's a silly feature at best, but every once in a while I simply can't find my own damn topics, and I'd like to.

So far I am liking what I am seeing, I am really looking forward to this new design, this "New FAKKU" will be awesome!

That's awesome to hear. I hope to see this site renovation in action soon. It'll definitely be worth it.

Nice, that's the best news I've heard so far. Now if only something could be done about the reporters. *nudge nudge*

Glad to see it's more of an evolution than revolution.
Tsuyoshiro has a point and it kinda comes along the lines of the jump_to_page option but either ain't anywhere near crucial so take your sweet time.

I'm liking the new design ideas.
The view manga page looks great, seems like it'll be easier to search for specific titles.
Also, fixing up the error page problem is definitely good news.

I know this has come up before, I believe MidgarKonotsu made a thread a while back, but maybe a donation button/page could help out especially if it's placed where everyone can see. It's a shame you can't use a Paypal donate button on an adult site, so there might be some trouble there.

Yeah this has been a serious problem for me. My internet is terrible so I can't always load pages and have to go back, or completly reopen the site just to look at some hentai or post in the forums.

Oh and when do you think the new FAKKU! will be up?

It seems to me like this new Fakku! style is going to benefit lots of users. Changing the resolution is, in my opinion, a good move. The lower bandwidth will also help with this annoying problem of there being constant error messages appearing and me being unable to open the Fakku! site.

Very nice and shiny. Hopefully all the nice big errors and bandwidth problems will be effectively removed in the future.

Finally, a tag system. How do you plan on correlating the tags to the search bar? is the search function gonna be changed? are you revamping it or something?

Actually, it's 15 posts per page less the initial one (OP).

So far, so good I guess. Like what a few others have mentioned, hopefully the site re-design isn't only going to be a "visual" change but would also fix some of the lingering bug issues and would make some of the old "features" more efficient for usage.

Hopefully, I will get less error pages from now on. I often get problems while editing my posts.

It would be great, if you could afford to take the time for improvement of the search function. It is troubleling me for not showing the bold titles of the doujinshi which had already been uploaded. And why can't I directly go to the displayed posts and have a look?
