Paid contents issues
-1
Hi,
I don't normally post here unless I think it's necessary, I hope paid contents won't kill the site's value to the users because I personally feel like the money making approach is too much in the user's face. What if we have separate section for the paid contents? From time to time of my browsing I always check things out then "You must purchase this book in order to read it." It just doesn't feel like fakku to me.
Just want to throw this up so the fakku team can see it.
Thanks,

Your assumption that every user is pissed because they have to pay for the quality works of artists is very much arguable, my friend. Just like any content provider, Fakku! does not strive to be a pirate, but a legit business. Now if you are unable to afford it, you're welcome to find it on Ex or any site that can pirate it. I've only seen people who can't buy the Books complain about the ways Fakku! has been run recently, and if you didn't buy it, don't expect to be able to enjoy it.

Thanks for the feedback. FAKKU Books is our priority, so you'll only see more of it going forward. I want to reach the point where there are multiple chapters a day from FAKKU Books being posted on the front page. We'll start making some chapters free, probably on some type of rotation.

While a lot of the content Fakku publishes right now is already familiar to us from earlier scanlations, it will not always be the case and it's nice to be able to have a taste before deciding if something is worth buying.

A few sample pages don't say as much as a sample chapter, though. Especially when you need to be careful with what you spend your little money on. I've bought Renai Sample and I will get PuniKano once there's more to add to the order, but I'm not sure I would have done that just based on the sample pages. Certain chapters I had already read were the main deciding factor.

And this is an anime related site, no one brags about who can buy and who can not here, this is not youtube comment section. I post this to tell the experience.

Free stuff on rotation would be great, I just find it sometimes annoying that the "You must purchase this book in order to read it" contents are blended on the regular contents. I mean, 5 years in fakku with all the changes was great, I just find it too drastic this time. Maybe a Tag that will tell users it's paid content would be nice, it just feels like we're being forced to buy it even though we're not forced to do so.

I've already read Renai Sample! and PuniKano when they were available so I know what I'm getting, but sample chapters couldn't hurt for those who don't.

Would it be at all possible to make it more obvious that the items on the front page are from the books? With all the book content on the front page that was new to me today, I clicked on half a dozen different things and it was really irritating that I couldn't read any of them. I appreciate that you're bringing this over legitimately and I'll probably pick up some books sometime after the holidays if I end up with some extra cash, but having so much of the front page taken up by stuff that looks like the usual offerings but is just a cocktease really sucks. Even just a FAKKU Books tag or something so that we know it's paid content.

@rotoscopic
If it says that it was posted by FAKKU (all caps), then you can safely assume that it's a paid release.
@Katsune: There's so much other content on Fakku that paid releases shouldn't be a problem, eh?

I don't have a problem with work being uploaded to the front page at all. However one thing I wish didn't occur was receiving notifications when chapters of a Store book are posted. For example, one of the recent chapters uploaded had color which is one of my subscribed tags. So looking only at notifications, which I usually check first, there's no way to tell whether I'm about to actually read what was uploaded under my favorited tag or if it will tell me I need to make a purchase.
Dunno how complex the actual coding behind something like this would be, but personally I would prefer if the paid content didn't show up in my notifications along with the other stuff. Or at the least had some indication that it was part of a book in the store.
Honestly it's a very minor inconvenience and I understand if much like showing it off on the front page having it in our notifications is yet another method to make us aware; I still personally wish there was some sort of segregation on free vs paid content in notifications.

Good idea, I can add an icon to the notifications if it's a release from FAKKU.
