Remove Subscriptions from Home?
-2
I know I'm not the only one who isn't a FAKKU subscriber and nothing is wrong with that. Nothing wrong with subscribing either, showing support to a great website and writers and many others. However, I don't like seeing a long list on the home page (which is where I look for the newest hentais and such) and go "Ooo, so many uploads!" Then see that a majority of them are Fakku subscription/book related. So out of say 10 uploads within a 24 hour time period, 7-9 are the Fakku stuff. Why have that? I mean I assume Fakku Subscribers get notified when a subscription manga is uploaded, as well as there's the Subscription button along the top of the page that takes you to a list of all the subscription mangas. I just think that there's no point in having them on the homepage when you need to be subscribed in order to read them. Surely I'm not the only one who has this train of thought?

I've answered this question multiple times in the past, so I'm just gonna link you to my most recent answer.
The short version is: new stuff goes on the front page, just like on any other site. Let me know if you have further questions.

Maybe a tag could be added to subscription content? Hmm... I think such metadata is already there. Maybe allow users to filter on it?
As a temporary work-around, you could search for "-FAKKU English" or "-FAKKU Japanese" in the search bar, filtering out stuff published by FAKKU, which will be FAKKU books & subscription content.
EDIT: A bit of fiddling around has shown that the search functions are a tad broken. Seems like the code could definitely use some work... maybe with the inclusion to *sort* results by various criteria.

Actually Tagging subscriptions would be cool. There is already a page for looking at subscriptions if you click on my account, subscriptions, but if Fakku ever got around to creating a blacklist feature then users could just blacklist the subscriptions tag and everything would be perfect.

Well I understand that, but why have it where the paid stuff is on the page with the free stuff? Like I said, there's the Subscription thing that takes you to all the subscription mangas, the subscribers should get notifications about new subscription hentais.

Instead of removing/moving the subscription content from the homepage, maybe there should be a little red indicator/tag next to the free content. Which could link to all of the current free content on the site, much like how the subscription tag does now.
I would assume this would be done after all the unlicensed content from the site is removed though.
Or redesign the homepage so that subscription/books and free content are in separate columns or something.
Removing/hiding content from the homepage seems like the exact opposite of what a homepage is supposed to do.

Well I never said that removing the subscriptions from the homepage is exactly what they need to do. I would just like to have the free stuff be separated from the paid stuff. So having a separate column or it's own spot on the bar are two viable ideas.

I feel adding a separate column for non subscription stuff isn't a great idea.
I do like the sound of clicking on the tab on a non subscription chapter, and it coming up with all the non subscribe content. That's a decent idea.
As it is, it's pretty easy to browse the front page and figure out which are subscriber only, and which aren't. I've been figuring it out easily. There's only a handful of non sub content uploaded between sessions of me reading it, so I don't miss much.

It would probably be better if subscription-based Doujins be tagged with their own unique tag, that would allow non-paying users to blacklist them if they don't want to see them.

I don't know why this kind of idea is insisted upon when all unlicensed content will apparently be removed from the site in a few months, which means (I assume) no more unlicensed uploads. Yeah, Jake said there will be some kind of free content rotation or whatever, but why make the devs work on reformatting the homepage just because you're too lazy to scroll down for content without the Fakku tags?

Why not add a setting to hide the paid stuff like how user need to turn on "Show Controversial Content"
so you can have
Hide books
Hide paid subscriptions
so you can have
Hide books
Hide paid subscriptions

Any requests for such options are just a symptom of being in denial about the current goals of this site, see also the excellent post above yours.
However, I do see merit in the idea of showing free content separately, either in the small column that currently shows the newest books, poll, and featured books, or in a separate section of the site, depending on how much content is made available for free at one time. This only once the aforementioned free content rotation is implemented, though, not for unlicensed content that is on its way out anyway.

I know what you mean but it can be used for people who just want to buy books/chapter they want to own a physical copy or dll, as there have been post/thread where people want to own instead of subscribing.
It will mean also when the free rotation comes in people can simple view the free stuff.
There are always gonna be people who simple do not want to pay.
I do also agree with user above about people being lazy as the books and sub all have a red banner saying FAKKU Book/Subscription.

Never noticed that, i just spend time on the forum and see what book are coming out when Jacob makes a banner at the top or puts a message on the top.
My suggestion then can be ignored then.
They should just a free banner that goes on the side of the chapter, like how they with have FAKKU book and FAKKU Subscription, and when you click on it take you to a page that only show the free content, but have the little banner different colours
i.e.
FAKKU Book = red banner
FAKKU Subscription = blue banner
FAKKU Free = Black
Or use different colour background for the post

Oh, I like this idea, color coding the tag/banner of the content would make them stand out a lot more. You'd just have to make sure the colors are visually appealing together.

Am sure the dev can come up with some colour schemes, they can make post on the front page using very light/transparent colours and the little tag/banner that comes on the right top side of the uploads a solid colour as it is like now.
It will come down to if Jacob likes it or not.
I would also like it if we can choice to get notification from BOOK only or subscription only for the tags/artist we follow, so people who don't have a sub will not get notification from sub content that is upload
