Returning Reps to one a day or removing entirely?

With Waars quick reminder it got me thinking. What value do people get with reputation system that they have to constantly give their own post a +1, or attacking others with -1. Honestly I want reputation the way it was where you can only give one reputation a day and they're displayed next to our post count. But alternatively I think we should just remove it all together. Not saying getting rid of comment +1/-1, just it's tally. People can still give a +1 to comments they enjoyed but that'll be it, no "Forum reputation" displayed in users profile.
The only problem with current system is some users feel a reputation makes them "special" or "unwanted" in few cases certain users feel threatened by others with anonymous negative reputation post attacks.

Every user is the judge, jury and executioner of their own - and + votes. People can give for what ever reason they want these votes. Basically you are saying that because people don't give votes based on the criteria you have, we should remove and/or limit it. One per day isn't that of a bad idea, but i would say either let it be like it is or remove it completely.
Part of the reason some trolls do these 'negative reputation attacks' as you call them, is because people react to these - / + votes just the way you are showing. Once you stop making up and down votes a big deal, the trolls stop attacking.

Do you remember how annoying it was to be unable to -rep a shitpost or +rep something hilarious because you'd already used it that day and had to "owe" them one?
Rep manipulation being against the rules I can understand because if allowed, many users can falsely represent themselves on their profiles (who actually looks at other people's profiles though?) or +rep their own posts in heated discussions to make out like they have friends who agree with them (which happens on YouTube all the time). The act of doing so speaks in volumes of how pathetic a person has to be to do so. It's not healthy behaviour.
But if getting negrepped is that big of a deal, what else do you suggest? Without much thought put into it, I would suggest limiting how often a single user can negrep another individual's posts. Maybe like 2-3 posts in the space of a day. I would say limit +reps too, but that won't discourage Rep manipulators with multiple alts so there'd be no point, another solution would be needed for that. Perhaps increasing the post limit required to rep people? Right now it's 15 posts if I recall, unless that was changed.

hello all,
i think a reputation system where there us unlimited up votes and down votes is not a problem since everyone should be entitled to their opinion. Also i have not even that involved in the fake forums so i don't know if there was ever a "reputation rank" associated with this but i think it would be nice if there was but that rank can only go up with your reputation and never go down so if you reach the limit for one and you reach it you keep it even if your overall falls under the limit again.
