RP Section

I don't really have anything against RP, but I think it is wrong for RP threads to be in the writing section. Writing section is for literature works. While one may argue that RP is also a form of written arts, that is to me like arguing VN is also a kind of video game and demanding that Clannad VN thread deserves to be in VG section. I simply don't think that is right therefore I am requesting an RP section be made for these threads. I understand that we still have very little amounts of RP threads and a dedicated section for them is a bit too much, but I believe that if a section is given specifically for it then more RP will be made after a while making the section worth it and most importantly, written works that deserve more attention would not be overwhelmed by the more intense activity of these RP threads.

I think you are absolutely right in this. As I myself have a thread and often visit the Writings section, I just love to read the fanfic and the other writings but I am not so much for RP. I've joined one and even there I am not very active. But if the RPs would get their own section that would make it much easyer and as you said more people would probably create RPs then. But I agree with this.

But, if there isn't anywhere else for it, then I suppose it being a sub-section there or under Writing would be best.

Anyway, I fully support Mibu's idea, I think there will be many more people up for RPs once its sub-forum is made, so its level of activity shouldn't be worried over.

All I wanted to say has been posted so without repeating I am totally in agreement.

The CTFG subforum isn't the right place to post an rp for a wide variety of reasons mainly because it may bring trolls (in some cases) , they will be on the second or third page , ect.

I would like to have another subforum in the writing section because these "games" are in fact some pieces of writhing made by a group. You create a character that will go through different events just like in a novel book poetry (some of them).

As a new user as of yesterday upon visiting the Writing section, I was baffled by the allowance of RP threads. RP threads on the internet, especially on sites which use BBS systems, usually have RPing in sectors of the forum that are categorized as Non-General or Off-Topic.

In regards to writing in general, I expected a more secluded area which focused on writing. Since RP is allowed, it holds true to subduing the proximities and values of threads which focus on writing.

And to be honest, my interest in the writing section actually wavered dramatically just for this reason.

Motion supported. I'm all ready for more RPs, but I think posting them in Writings and Fanfictions decreases the actual audience for that section. Likewise, RPs are still serious in some way, more so than the IB and CTFG topics in a sense.

The real question now is, if a new section IS made, where will it go?

It'd fit quite well as a sub-section of Incoherent Babbling if it weren't for the fact that it even had that name and description..

And RP Threads are usually created around the areas related to something of an Off-Topic or Forum Game section in most places.

The thing is, RP thread ARE on topic...

An example would be if it was an apocalypse-based RP. You have to post in a manner that would fit the thread...

A Writing sub-section would do nothing but good, in my humble opinion. Secluded enough that it won't be trolled all the time, but good advertising for the wider section, and a good start for prospective creative writers.

It may look a bit empty to begin with, but I'm sure a small community built up around it could fill it out. And it would instantly be busier than the music sub-forums, for instance.

That's actually one of the things that bothers me most, it's the fact that we resort to, or rather, are instinctively inclined to separate them and call them "RP threads." They're threads like a completely different species.

I think there's enough threads now for a page to be filled out. Though not sure if enough threads are present to full more than one pages.

I'm sure that once it's made, however, there may a rising influx of RPs. Basically, people won't have to go into Writing to check out any RPs. Once a sub-section is made, they'll go straight to that if that's what they want. Does that make sense?

Quite obviously, yes. My point kinda indirectly states that there's too many RP related threads on the Writing forum, blocking out a lot of the WRITING threads. So the RP section needs to be made.

I would not mind an RP Section, but I doubt I would use it much, if at all. I'm not big into role playing like I used to be. Also, wouldn't most of the RPs here be considered "cybering"? I know it's against the rules, but I have a feeling most would be that on a site like this.

I know very few of us believe it would be a problem but if an RP section was created there would be no room for sexual interactions between forum members. Adult encounters between a member and a fictional character might be alright but if any cybering began it would spell and end to whatever thread it occurred in, not to mention hefty punishments for those involved. There would have to be moderator and member assisted(via report button) oversight on the section.
