Specific Manga chapter/ Anime episode threads

It has come to my attention that most of the chapter discussion and some of episode discussion thread are merely 0 to at least 9 replies and responds for reciting the chapter event and a couple hundred views.(Some are quite popular in comparison such as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movie and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya)
Meanwhile, in the Specific anime/Specific manga threads also hold similar discussions as well except for the fact that they take the entire series in analytical discussion or even just straight out obvious facts including the most recent chapter(s) just like in the specific manga/ specific episode threads, thus engaging in a more heated debate/conversation/mockery/ or whatever it is that we say about that particular series.
My case in question: is it necessary to hold two separate threads where one is just stating what events just took place in that specific chapter and another is an actual discussion, digesting and stating the new chapter events and the entire series as a whole?
I personally don't see a point in those chapter discussion/episode discussion anymore, since everyone is rushing to specific manga/anime series instead.

Based on what I've seen so far in the Specific Manga Series section, people tends to post in the respective manga thread when a new chapter comes out, for the exception of Naruto, One Piece and Bleach. For example, a new chapter for To Love Ru Darkness comes out. Instead of making a new thread in the sub-section, people tends to simply post in the main thread. Therefore, I believe having such sub-section is meaningless.
