Suggestion: Post Editing

Can there be a feature where the post could say, "This post has been edited on xx-xx-xxxx, xx:xx", after someone edits a post?

I remember that an older forum I went to had this feature...

well, almost ever forum that I commute also has this.

IT's probably not that hard to implement it.

The only benefit I'd see from this personally would be the waifu game, as to null and void any ninja claims.


Other then that, I don't really care when/if someone edits their posts. Not against this idea though.

It's for the "transparency" of the site, so it will be clear when someone edited out their post, and to prevent other negative ninja edits other than the waifu game... lol

With the number of edits I tend to make to lengthy posts, I would personally find this very helpful. It would also indicate where content in a thread has been removed at the behest of the owner or mods, so that it's obvious to people posting afterwards what has happened. The only problem would be deciding which date format to use. :p

I'd say the same format as the top-right of our posts...

The only problem is, where would the notification go?

How about on the bottom of our post to the right just above the sig line?

I'd rather not have this unless I can toggle this function on or off. I am constantly editing my posts. I have about 19,500 posts altogether (I need to get out more) but out of those 19,500, I've probably edited 19,000 of them. It would be annoying for me to see that on all of my posts.

Personally, I hate clutter. Which is why I turn off everything. Not being able to toggle, adds more clutter.

Imo things like this can wait until atleast all the post reply bugs has been ironed out.

What we need is a feature for quoting after making a post. It's awfully annoying to add quotes to a post when it's the last in the thread, especially if there's quotes inside quotes.

This edit date thing could be easily fixed by manually adding a note to the end of your post.

But yes, that ought to be a relative priority.

A post edit feature would still be nice though, although I think it would have to be mandatory (as opposed to toggled in your profile) to be helpful. I edit my posts a lot but I don't see it popping up everywhere as a hindrance, or clutter. My posts can change dramatically with edits, but people won't often notice a few lines difference.

No it isn't. The topic has been mentioned before and nothing had been done about it. That isn't the say the staff didn't think about it and simply decided not to pursue it or pursue it at another time. However, let's not sugarcoat it either.

It's a rather simple suggestion. Whenever a post is edited, there's something at the bottom of the post telling that it has been edited at [time of edit].

I think this is especially convenient if users want to have a game that would require no edits (like waifu game) but dont have access to mod powers. In other situations, it's absolutely harmless.

I believe I have seen such a function on other forums.

I suppose there is no harm in having the edit information available for all to see, but it also depends on whether the top management has the resources to implement such a function. Hopefully, they are agreeable.
