Support Tickets

I'd raise this directly with Jacob, but he's afk and I won't remember tomorrow.
Support tickets. For instance, right now there is a problem with the game downloads. It would be easier to have a support ticket system where the tickets are sent to Jacob/administration that can access broken parts of the website to fix them and also displayed on a page where users can search a database of tickets to check for their problem and any possible resolve. The Support may be more manageable in this form, and duplicate tickets could be deleted by whomever monitors this system. People could also click on something to show if they were also having the same problem. [not dissimilar to the poll function, only with two options [YES/NO]]
Plus, it would probably be rather easy to implement and would result in very low downtime of any function. Possibly with the help of a team of lurkers, problems could also be explained in detail after someone investigates it. From "teh urls in anime secitn are broekn" to "A user cannot click links embedded in posts in the forums, namely the Anime forums." This could assist in not confusing Jacob when he tries to fix a feature, or another user attempts to offer a resolve.

It could be restricted to members with a certain post/rep count, like editing manga information and uploading flash games is.

PLEASE UPLOAD MORE ONE PIECE HENTAI
Or a button that you click to indicate that something on this page is broken? I don't know.

Sounds like a good idea, but I can see potential for abuse.
Arizth: I don't think that restricting to a post count would be very effective, seeing how people spam posts now.
Would it be possible to make it so that Jacob/administration was only informed if more than one person reports the same problem?

Considering we get all of this here anyway [more one piece hentai, etc], the new system wouldn't get abused any more than the old. Plus, threaten a penalty to any user who makes a stupid post or just make it clear it's not a requests area.
Anonymous users should be able to make the same tickets, as some people just don't want to register, and come across a problem. It would assist with uptime, and if well moderated by whomever, people might stop wrecking it pretty fast. No restrictions.
Oh, I lost rep again. Hm. It's not like I say anything unsavoury.
RaiArashi: Nah, because some problems can be template-based that only screw up on a certain configuration. For instance, FireFox3 under Ubuntu always cocked up a header for me. I didn't mind, but another user might and would then report it. Mmm. Then there would be only one user who reported and the problem wouldn't get fixed. But a good point you raised.

Interesting, at least I learned something.
The ability for anonymous users to make the same tickets sounds interesting, but seems to present an opportunity for people to spam the Fakku admins with notifications.

Indeed. The idea would be to only send one email a day saying "Activity" and for the poster to mark their things in manners of importance. Site bug, moderator request for lock/delete/spanking. Something like that, to reduce the spam sent to everyone, and to finally abuse the moderators.
