Tags - Japanese Terms?

This isn't a critique so much as a question, but why are the tags Japanese terms instead of the more well-known English terms, such as ashikoki instead of footjob, mizugi instead of swimsuit, and pettanko instead of flat-chested? Some of them I understand because anime fans regularly use the terms, like futanari and megane. Other make sense because there isn't a succinct way to express them, like chikan and shimpan. But I've never heard any anime fans use "ashikoki" or "pettanko"; I think the English terms are more commonly said, and some fans might search for "footjob" and be saddened to see that there are no results, not expecting that there is in fact a tag for it, just under a name they're not used to.

Again, I'm not asking anything to be changed. I wasn't here when tags were implemented, so I don't know if there was a consensus about using the Japanese terms or what the process of deciding the tags was or anything like that. I'm just curious.

And before anyone thinks I'm trying to cause trouble, I don't have any problems with the tags. If there's one I don't understand, I simply read the description for it. So, I don't necessarily think they should be changed. (I wanted to make that clear so no one would misunderstand.)

Word. sometimes the japanese term is the only way to say it in one word(futanari, the dere's, etc.), but since this is an english site, english terms should be used as much as possible.

seems a bit weeaboo/eliteist to use japanese when an english term would work just as well.

I guess the tags could be either way (English or Japanese), but I don't mind Japanese. And beause the tags are Japanese terms, you learn some new words haha. :P

I think japanese tags are more "classy" and since these are mostly japanese hentai it fits better. When I first visited the site I found the meaning of the tags in no time, simply because there are descriptions. And seriously, something like "dick girls" sounds incredibly stupid.

I agree with this, it makes some kind of sense of difference between western porn and hentai.

I think "shemale" refers just to pre-op transgender males, the men that get breast implants and may look very much like females but still have a penis instead of a vagina.

"Futanari" seems to refer to hermaphrodites, as they usually have both a penis and a vagina.

Oh my bad, i meant hermaphrodites. XD The Japanese tags do sound so much more classy though, I have to agree on that.

I agree, the Japanese terms are a bit ridiculous. Anime community or not, this site needs to be as English friendly as it can be. At the very least, the tags need the English definition, or close proximity, with it.

Maybe for the common ones, but not the obscure. I agree, not everyone knows ashikoki or mizugi, but some terms like yan/tsundere and pettanko are more common.
It's a hard line to draw, as now tags are mixed English and Japanese...

Although I'm not sure how you'd do this and keep the layout of the Tags page looking clean, but perhaps making a legend right there on the tags page, rather than having to click on an individual tag for the summarization of what it means.

There just needs to be an English friendly understanding. I mean, yeah it's an anime community, and I can imagine many people who browse Fakku have at least a passing understanding of these terms. However, that isn't really fair to alienate the audience who doesn't know what all of these terms mean.

I like it as is, this doesn't really bother me.

imo it would be good if we could have multiple different search words for the tags. Like in danbooru you can find the flat_chest pictures with pettanko, tsurupeta, flatchest, small_breasts, flat_chested and titty_buds. So for example the doujins here with the ashikoki tag could be found with "footjob" aswell. That way we'd have the japanese tags for weebs like Jacob, but people who arent that familiar with the japanese terms could find stuff they like easily aswell.

Since hentai originates from Japan (or so I think), using some Japanese terms as tags would be appropriate. Of course, the lesser-known terms may cause some confusion among users, so I suppose we should try to strike a balance as to what appeals most to the community.

For the people saying to change things to English because people might not know what they are...

There's a picture (for example, ashikoki) showing a little bit of what the fetish/tag means. And if people are that curious, they can open a tab and see the definition real quick on the top of the page. If it's interesting, pick a manga. If it's not, close the tab. Atleast you familiarized yourself with a new term. :P

A tag alias system would actually help. Sure, most people here know what "futanari" means, but I doubt as many know what "ashikoki" or "shimapan" mean.
