That's not what he meant. He means what is the point of saying you gain nothing by talking about this topic when instead you post a reply to the topic. Wouldn't it be more effective to not post to describe fruitlessness you feel for the topic? If I gain nothing from talking about an topic, then I won't post in the topic I gain nothing discussing because there is nothing I value to be taken from it. Tis' rational. I wouldn't post in the discussion how useless it is because it makes me look foolish and hypocritical because I went back on my own belief and I recognize there is something from talking about the topic because all posts made are to gain something from someone else whether it is respect, insights, laughs, or/and etc.
