4chan used to a decent place to get material until the admins deserted it and let it go to Hell until it was forced under FBI investigation.

4chan is shit... except for its rs.4chan section.

4chan is a super-popular website. It was created by a 15-year-old (funny since the site has always been 18+), based on Japan's 2channel website. For a while, 4chan was sort of like the underground of the internet. It had all the sickest shit you've ever seen, and not everyone knew about it. As time has gone on, however, it has become very popular, and it seems like everyone and their mother knows about the site and visits/used to visit. I blame this on three groups: 1) Idiots who liked to brag about visiting 4chan on forums and invited every other idiot to visit; 2) TV shows that mentioned 4chan and its "crazy schemes" to get higher ratings; and 3) Dumbasses who were way too into 4chan and decided to act their internet life out in real life, by spouting memes while at conventions or protesting Scientology or having "real life raids," where a group of dumbasses do dumbass things in public.

A lot of internets memes were either spawned in 4chan or used so very much in 4chan that they became popular across the entire web. For example, "become an hero" comes from 4chan; a kid killed himself, his friends put up a memorial MySpace page, and one of the chicks made a horrible grammatical error, saying that the kid was "an hero." Some guys on 4chan thought this was hilarious, so they started saying that people who kill themselves are "an hero" and that people who should kill themselves should "be an hero." On the other side, 4chan did not invent motivational posters, but 4channers like motivational posters so much, and have made so many, that the meme has spread across the internet. A guy sees a motivational poster on 4chan, he makes a thread about them on his forum, someone sees it on that forum and posts about it on another forum, and so on.

So yes, 4chan seems to have a lot of power, with some memes even appearing on TV without any mention of 4chan. Does this matter? Not really. But now you know, and knowing's half the battle. (The other half of the battle is knowing that spamming /b/ memes outside of /b/ isn't cool or funny.)

4scrape is a massive database of images that have originated from 4chan and all of its usually retarded threads. my respects to anyone who has actually been able to tolerate 4chans erratic posts and derails but i was sick of it my first day of browsing. someone suggests an image topic, two people follow that topic and its about that time when things go butt fuck nowhere. nice organization skills with the acronymed tabs, took enough time as it was to understand what they all meant.

4scrapes a ton different though, ive spent hours just browsing images. im positive that anybody browsing fakku will find some interesting, never before seen pictures there.

Anyway, despite what people say... 4Chan isn't that bad. The people there can be assholes when interacting with one another, and the mysogyny and racism makes me wonder.. but there are some good things.

/wg/ often has some pretty epic wallpapers
/rs/ is kinda helpful. I actually helped a Fakku request be answered by going on /rs/
And /s/ and /h/ often have good fap material

4Chan sucks if you only use /b/ or when /b/tards wonder into other sections

Some of the other boards (besides /b/) on 4chan are pretty fucking nice. I used to frequent /co/, the comics and cartoons board, and it was awesome in every way. The people were often nice, the discussions were good, and the pictures were hilarious.

I'll be the first to say that /b/ sucks (more than it ever did in the past), but 4chan can be an enjoyable site, if you remember that /b/ is only one part of it. Plus, not all of /b/ is bad; it's just the many losers that are bad. There are still some smart and funny things on /b/, as well as some people who know that when you leave /b/, you stop acting like a racist, homophobe asshole.

If you just stay away from /b/ and /r/ it really isn't that bad. I can't think of many better places to get good wallpaper and their rapidshare list is pretty good.
