About mercy killing

i read this in one of our school's computer course network forums, and it really did a reading.
"what will you do in this situation?
You and several of your guys are deep in enemy territory and are currently fighting several enemies trying to take your position.
one of the attacking forces fires a rocket towards your position and knocks you and a guy in your left side back. you are still in one piece, but the other wasnt so lucky.
his arm and leg was blown off and he had several deep wounds in the torso, heavily bleeding.
"he won't make it. better end his suffering." one of your buddies said as he continued firing at the enemy, throwing his pistol right beside the first aid kit one of them put behind your back.
what will you do?"
and the answer that caught EVERYONE's (including the mods of the network and IT teachers) attention that escalated into a heavy discussion in the network was:
"Fuck it. he's already bleeding to death, so why waste time trying to stop the inevitable? i'm gonna take that pistol thrown beside the damn medkit and put a bullet in his head, thus ending his suffering. i did him a favor and ended his painful suffering since he was about to die anyway from that dismemberment and blood loss."
So guys... what are your thoughts about mercy killing as shown in the example above? it doesnt have to be based on the said example. just your own thoughts about it and citing examples will do.
as for me, i think there is even no such thing as "mercy" when killing. what you did was just ending someone else's or some animal's life, without a second thought and look at what you have just done.
sure it will relieve that person of pain by dying, but even the most pathetic and weakened can still be saved, but they will have to endure the pain in order to live.
so guys? opinions?

My stance on euthanasia: let the person who is suffering decide. They are the ones who know if they can suffer through the pain or not. If they wanna live, do your best to save them, even if you know you're fighting an uphill battle. If they wanna die, let them die with dignity.

If a person wants to die, let them. In Oregon they have a three doctor panel and a bunch of background stuff to decide if they can't get it. If ought it Oregon, their right.

Mustn't Run Away...
Should you just kill him without asking him if he wants to fight to live ? No , but if the person is in extreme agony ,and theirs no way to get him help for his DEADLY injury then yes , if you can take his pain away ,and you can live with it do it.

Mercy killing or any killing for that matter is like getting a tattoo.
Its on you forever, so don't do it unless you can live with it.
Personally I would do a mercy killing if I ever had to.
Not sure I would want to but most likely I'll never be put in that situation.

Its up to the dying. If they want to die I'd obliged them. Its not something I'd want to rush into thogh.

I wouldn't waste the bullet. I'f the guys gonna die, let him. Instead I'd be focusing my efforts on the enemy to make sure I don't end up next to him.

It really depends on the situation.
If it was your "incurable disease patient scenario" I would let the patient decide his/her own fate...
But in a war, during operation behind enemy lines, with them already dying? If I was sure I couldn't help them, I'd shoot them. Dying isn't a process which has a set time...there's always a chance, no matter how small, that enemy might find them and at least keep them alive long enough to learn something. True, it is minimal, but it is not zero either.
Unless he wants to go out fighting or something like that.
However, in a case of regular battle, with none of that "special operation, top secret for now" bull, I wouldn't do it, unless he/she would specifically ask for it.

i would put a bullet in his head it is sad but if he is screaming in pain that and begging 4 his life than it will have a lasting effect on the teems moral and may even lead to making a hasty call fueled by anger though i think you need to do it quickly to prevent making a spectacle of it so the anger is not directed at u, in my honest opinion 1 mans life is not worth that of the hole teem

if the guys able to speak let him deiced, if hes not end it for him. in a different situation it MIGHT be different if it wasint obviously hopeless but in this case the medic would just be wasting his time when he could be helping fight the enemy
