They moe anthropomorph anything nowadays. There was once I time I liked personification of objects but now it's losing it's luster for me.

it's just that those character models seem to be used often

Yeah, I forgot inspiration for the blonde one, but blue haired is inspired off Miku but shorter hair a bit more spunky, pink haired inspired by Luka just more moe-ifed, and white-haired is Haku but a bit more distant and mysterious.

You shouldn't worry about it too much if their popularity grows then their characters and looks will be fleshed out more that they won't look basic anymore.
