well, its true one way or another. as in - either the military has to blow through their budget or the party they are helping strengthens their own point in one way or another.

See the US in the 70s/80 with afghanistan. They were the ones that boosted up Al Quaida so they could repel the russians

Well yes, it's called making use of their military, otherwise they're just nabbing the resources for nothing if the world is at peace. Hence they need to make, or join in one

France had a standing army back during absolutism. That army was allways ready to go, allways fully equipped and such. By those, the soldiers were paid more than soldiers that were "on hold"

well, hiss regiment was under "The State is Me". Absolutism meant that the King had complete and Absolute might. so yeah, that guy was excentric as all hell

It wasnt really tyrany per se. Alto the lowest Tier of people (Tiers were Royalty (1% of the people), Cleregy (~9% of the people) and Peasantry (90%)) really had a hard time, since almost no money was allocated to them
no. He was mostly busy partying. He amassed an enourmous Debt. The debt was so high around 25% of the countries income was alocated to that debts Interest.
