Given the definition of the word it's fairly easy for anyone to be considered an alien already.
Old news.

Its gonna suck to live on mars.
Seriously.
Don't wanna see what cabin fever is like on the trip.
After the astronauts get there, its like then what..
Sustainable farms in biospheres?
I'm guessing if there was gonna be an martian base, it would be near the polar region where there's ice probably. And then preferably near any metal deposits. So yeah, so that you guys don't have to haul metal all the way from earth and drop it down onto mars.
And then humans eventually gonna get old, what you guys gonna do, haul old people back to earth and send the young there.
This prospect is alot more realistic if people don't mind being on one way trip to mars with no return.
Frankly, it just sucks to be on mars and the moon unless you guys can do planetwide terraform. Robots is good enough for now. Unless there's tangible benefits by simply having people on mars.
I cannot even argue against sending people there at least once. In fact, being there in person might yield way more data than peeking through robot's eyes. And while people is being there, we can get our disabled robots repaired! Then the said disabled robots can continue to operate again and gather even more data. If anything we should set up more robotic bases.

The plot to Mission to Mars is one step closer to becoming reality.

And then humans eventually gonna get old, what you guys gonna do, haul old people back to earth and send the young there.Fun fact: NASA has actually presented proposals to send older people (ages 40-60 if I recall correctly) on a one-way trip to Mars. There has never been a return vessel from Mars--even unmanned machines sending back samples (though planned) hasn't actually been done--due to the cost of resources (limited air, food, and water supply, billions of dollars in fuel to actually move said supplies, fuel adding even more weight meaning even more fuel, a craft capable of carrying all these things, survive passing through the atmosphere at great speeds, slow it's decent, and take off without a launch platform, etc), and sending people to live, work, and eventually die there has been one of the few viable options.

More than anything else, I'm curious as to see the long-term effects on human physiology.
Should a permanent colony be successfully established, the people a million years hence may well be noticeably different.

This project will send people on an age bracket of 18-71 years old, othe sources said. And yes, it's a one way trip.
Who knows? They might name themselves ZAFT in the future.

Ah, I didn't notice that was the idea for this mission too (the information is kind of spread out; it took me a second to find where exactly it said that). I heard the one-way-trip idea back in 2008.
Once again I make an ass of myself by saying something that a posted link already says.

Good job, Dee.

Let's make it Australia 2.0 and throw in all of our convicts.
This isn't exactly new news anyways. And Medzy pointed out, the atmosphere over there isn't going to protect them very well.
But hey, if you got the money, time, and not much to live for, go ahead and try.

You mean like Total Recall? (Though the old one has the Mars concept).
Why bother going to mars if you can get wimminz to spend mah gold?
