Is it argue with Waar day today? Damn, must have missed the memo.

Every couple of weeks someone prostrates themselves in front of me.

Boring. I was expecting a bigger blow up.

One thing I learnt from IB is to get my fact straight before arguing with Waar. In rare cases, even with your fact straight, you just won't win.

That's why I usually don't debate/argue with people because of that reason. No wonder how much evidence and facts I bring to table most of the time I still lose.

I sometimes do, when I believe in something strongly and it's backed up by facts, but for the rest of them time I just don't bother.

I don't think we've gotten into a proper argument. I like to think I'd say my facts properly, but I'm terrible at expressing what I mean during certain times... I have no idea how it works, I just fail at wording and thinking before about 7pm~ between then and about 4am, I can think quite coherently... Thus, why I internet more then

Take your time with each post, rushing is a death sentence to a properly crafted argument. When someone replies to me I like to break down each point they make and counter with logic/common sense. As this is IB we rarely deal with facts so it's mostly a battle of opinions but I try to make sure I take the most logical side to any argument. If I'm stuck with a poor position(arguing devil's advocate) I then have to argue more correctly than my opponent, so as to sound like I'm right(because when it comes to pure opinion, sounding right makes you right) even if my side is the weaker of the two. Always remember to stick to your bases as well, people will often try to change the argument on you, so if you can stick to your point and remind them when they veer off that "this is what I'm arguing, not the point you're trying to change it to" then it's fairly impossible to lose.

Most of the time I'm met with someone much weaker(or even less intelligent) so these arguments don't last long and often degrade into defensive siege battle for them. Every once in a while I find someone who has a proper grasp of the English language and knows how to use logic in an argument, and that's when I can really enjoy myself, but those arguments tend to be much longer(like waar v bill earlier this month). I tend to do well with those but the enjoyment factor for the rest of you is somewhat diminished.

I appreciate fact, and SD is a good place to argue fact, but it's a terrible place if you want to learn how to argue or debate. So I want to finish this by saying God bless IB, and it's many denizens.
