Anyway, onto today's main course.

As I was playing a lot of games relating to mecha recently, and Armored Core series specifically, I decided to post a series of artworks presenting said mecha. Naturally, if somebody wants to join in with their own, I do not mind.


Also, if somebody wants to discuss and mecha games, and Armored Core in particular, feel free to do that.

Also, Armored Core games have rather jumbled-up continuity:

Each series means a new continuity (i.e new world and terminology). The AC pilots are called "Ravens" in all of them until 4.













The characters gallery. Armored Core games are unique in that no characters are personally ever showed, thought they're named and often voiced. As the result, same person can look differently on different artwork. There are characters who *are* drawn in similar fashion though, Lilium Wolcott and May Greenfield being the chief examples.

Now, a bit on Armored Core, before I will have an avalanche of questions:

AC Game outline for dummies:

In all Armored Core games (except Formula Front) you play the role of mercenary mech pilot, usual refereed to by their in-universe name, the Ravens. Ravens work (in most cases) for a neutral military PMC that sells out their services to various mega-corporations and governments that wage continuous wars for influence. The said agency also operates "Arenas" - special zones where two Ravens can battle it out, without the risk of dying (in theory). Each Raven registered in Arena is ranked according to his/her combat ability, which is generally based on how many other Ravens you can defeat. The top ranked pilot is one that generally defeated everyone else, and inspires a great deal of fear and admiration, though this is not reflected in actual gameplay - though Arena matches can provide you with monetary rewards just as missions. And satisfaction from being famous. Apparently, mech fights are tomorrow's football.

This is more-or-less how each game looks, though actual piloting mechanics and story changes each time (mostly).

In every game however, you mech is fully customizable, and most hardcore players spent just as much time trying to build "optimal AC" as they do play missions.

Well, tis is a huge Mecha update, this is too much for a jailbait Puella Magi like me ¯3¯

In other words, I've never played any of the Armored Cores, IIRC... Maybe I have, maybe I haven't...

Any mecha experience at all Neo?

Hmmm, Custom Robo counts? The only mecha game that I recall ever playing was Front Mission, but I don't remember which...

Also, the Gundam games on the PSP.

Also, Nanoha counts as mech too...somewhat.

If Nanoha count as mech... I've played Magical Battle Arena and tried that game on the PSP. The PSP game was.... ok, not too bad, not too good.

Nanoha was designed as a magical girl version of Gundam, and the very first one specifically.

Mmmm, personally, I had no use for PS3 (and I still don't have Sam, so don't start that subject again), so I went and bought PS2.
