Big words sometimes piss me off

Generic, Harmonious, Alleviate, Flabbergastered, Monstrosity, Tentatively, Incorporate, Allure, etc.
I have no idea why, but people who uses big words naturally, polite or not, really piss me off.

You certainly have a problem there. People do that shit and its not healthy to get pissed off so easily. I used to get pissed off when people talk all educated and shit, but I stopped because I realized that it was pointless and that it was starting to do it myself.

How would you react if your boss were to use big words all the time?
Not sure if you are currently a part of your country's workforce, but I have friends with bosses or management that do things in the above manner. Which is why online dictionaries come in useful every once in a while.

The higher up you go educationally-wise, the more of these words are going to be used because they expect that sort of advanced command of the English language. It helps to have a big vocabulary when expounding or elaborating points in an academic or scholarly way.

Although I can't believe that someone would be pissed off by someone using educated/big words, I do agree that sometimes they are misused. If you watch some commentators on Fox they overly use the word "bloviate", probably as an attempt to appear erudite. Then in Japan, politicians are renowned for integrating high-brow economics terms (in accented English) which most of the population don't understand.

I don't know, it comes second nature to me. Probably because of all of my AP English courses in high school. I don't really care if someone else uses big words or not, but I fail to see why it should matter if I do. Heaven forbid someone has to look up something I said and learn something for the day.

I actually like reading the big words, I always have a online dictionary on another window when I read SDs, makes me feel that "ohh..this guy knows his stuff" and kind of aware of the high education level of each user. Still, I dont know how to use them.

English isn't my native language, so i can't use big words or such.
FAG, is a simple yet beautiful word.

I am astounded by my misinterpretation of your seeming floccinaucinihilipilification of a profound vocabulary.

It is certainly an outrage to have such an opinionated viewpoint such as yourself good sir. Perhaps you should diversify the way you comprehend the vernacular of the complex language that is English.

Oh yes, I almost forget-
Antidisestablishmentarianism. Indeed a real word, I wrote a college paper on it.
