And if up/down rep is gone for good but existing rep stays in the profile, and existing rep continues to be used to calculate RP, newer users will be at a disadvantage even if they're awesome enough be earning rep if it wasn't gone.

Sorry, clarification on my part: I was referring to completed auctions. If RP needs to be recalculated due to no more rep, some people could end up with negative RP after paying their auction RP prices where before they had some left over.
