@Yuuki: I really dig your waifu badge there. I was a little tempted to make my own after seeing how good yours turned out. I wonder how many people will have something similar. Out of curiosity, might I ask the method you used to make the shine effect?

If you would like, I could make you those waifu badges.

Uhh, the method I used for the shine:
>I created a flat white colored diagonal rectangle
>Cropped the unwanted parts
>Changed its layer to soft light
>I used a 0% hardness eraser to erase the sides to make it not look weird
>Animated it. = 3=

I was thinking to make my own, animating some movement and adding effects to each to match the character; something like adding electrical arcs for Elesa, because she's the lightning gym leader, and things like that.

That and, as Fallan said, you already have badges your working on.

I've animated quite a bit before; in the time from my last post to this one, I have the frame done (without text and no diffusion dithering at all, though) and the electric arc animation has about 6 or 7 frames done. The hard part is whether or not I can draw Elesa correctly.

Are you working on one currently? If you are, which character is it for?

Only a simple animation. I was thinking something like her just removing her sunglasses and looking at at the camera. And again, that's only if I get her to look right. Otherwise I might just go for a static image.

I'm usually using pencils and pens like a mangaka. I still haven't got the hang of digital drawing.

I also like to experiment on Japanese calligraphy painting.

Though I haven't touched those mediums in a while. = 3=

Do you have a tablet? Those are pretty nice for digital art, but I know if you really like cel-shading that it's not quite needed.



I've played around with that once. It was a million and a half years ago, athough I do remember in a class that we were to make sumie (Japanese style ink painting, if you didn't know) and I ended up making the box art of Metroid Prime (I'm not joking). My teacher wasn't too glad because it was supposed to be "traditional", but I still got an A.

EDIT: I may end up not making custom badges. The overall design of the frame I choose isn't working well with the electrical arc idea and I just had the thought that the waifu game ends in five weeks, so making one for each of them could pose the problem that I would be taking so much time to make them for a very limited time they would be used.

So, doing badges Yuuki?

Also, is there like a blueprint for those, or does every badge has to be designed from ground up?
