Cops

Do you like cops or dislike them, and why?
I like cops. I like them since I was little and my family is pretty involved with cops. In my experience, their like any other human around but they are risking their lives to protects us. Unfortunatly, not all cops think the same and very few tend to do something remarkibly stupid that makes the whole police force look bad. I believe the only reason cops are viewed bad is because of the media. The media get more hits on bad cop video's than good cop videos and I'm pretty sure the good video's out weigh the bad video's by 30:1
Soo....what are your thought's about them?

I like the job that they do and many individuals within the police, that I've met at least, seem to genuinely care about doing their job properly. However, despite or maybe in spite of their necessity and the power it gives them, there are problems with the police not just in America but over here in Britain as well. We all know the police are institutionally racist and that's most likely the major issue I have with them.

Well they seem to have a happy trigger finger towards blacks, but other than that I like them.

I'm indifferent too them. I just see them as another human being doing there job. I am glad they keep us safe though.

[size=10]I dislike cops who are naive and unexperienced when it comes to response and what is a true issue to be dealt with.
I was raised in a small town which was mostly made up of young families and old people. The cops "arrested" tweens who smuggled cigarettes and such, never anything greater than some kid from my HS stealing and driving a Chevy around.
It wasn't until we had to call the cops when I realized that a good well-rounded unbiased cop is a cop who has seen all sides of the coin. Our personal family dilemma continued for MONTHS before anything happened as far as a arrest goes.
To this day, since moving across the country, the cops have a different mindset over there that I can appreciate but at the same time loath. [/h]

I don't judge people by the labels society gives to them and i try not to generalize people like so many do. I don't blame all cops for the actions of single cop, or even 10 cops. I simply base my opinion on the specific individual cops that i happen to meet in my life, and on the experience i have with them, but i don't say or think "Oh, that one cop gave me a ticket because i was speeding, all cops are assholes".
Thankfully i don't live in as fucked up country as USA, so i don't really even have to worry about the trigger happy police, because we have none. I am more worried about the assholes and douchebags in clubs who want to fight all the time than i am worried about cops doing anything 'supposedly' wrong against me.

Never had a problem with them. In fact the ones I've encountered seemed rather reasonable.

It can be an incredibly thankless job where you are hated by the very people you try to protect.
It can also be incredibly dangerous, especially in larger cities.
Now some cops are bad. Some cops abuse the system and hide behind the shield to do wrong.
But many others are trying to do what they think is right as well. And people give them every reason to rethink trying to ever help anyone out.

Law enforcement is usually a tricky subject. Despite there being a lot of noble and compassionate men & women there are a lot of overzealous cops, and them getting plenty of privileges despite their responsibility doesn't help much either.
Too many are ignorant of their limits and the laws in placed to protect civilians and want complete control of a situation leading them to use excessive or unnecessary force. Other things like their complaint attitudes with the war on drugs and counties buying military equipment like armed tanks is also worrisome.
Thankfully I've never really had a "awful" experience with an officer, but when I read things, "Then you have the indictments handed down by the U.S. attorney here that recently led to criminal convictions against top sheriff’s deputies. The federal government accused them of encouraging the violence. In one case, a deputy beat and pepper sprayed an inmate and then taught other lower-level officers how to write a report covering up the abuse." I can't help be wary. We can all go on about good and bad cops but nothing will be resolved if the systems in place don't change or any change after a tragedy happens.

Been fine with cops, just don't have black skin.
Anyways, all my encounters with cops has been good one.(Prolly cuz i'm not black.)
I do not deny that police brutality does happen. And cops isn't obliged to throw away their lives to save yours.
Police need to stop protecting the bad apples.

I don't mind the Police, I think sometimes they go overboard but I blame lack of training. I don't really have to deal with them much but every time I have I was compliant and never had any trouble because they are friendly where I live.

Bike cops are the best. Nothing's funnier than a man in short shorts, chasing a guy down stairs on a bike.

My stance is neutral. Some are good, some are bad. I don't care so long as they don't raid my house for looking at loli.

Well, I can't complain. I've meet some really cool ones in middle school. But like everything else, there's the good, the bad, and then there's Detroit.
