Cylons are a race of sentient machines given a varying degree of religious fanaticism from TV Show Battlestar Galactica.

They exist as one of the cornerstones of "evil robot that works to kill entire humanity" archetype, all the way since 1980's.

In 2004, the original series was remade, into on of the best shows showed on Television in mankind's history, combining practically every known genre, from sci-fi through romance to philosophy.

The show furthermore remade cylons into two types: "Toasters" who are your regular tin-cans, and human-like constructs that behave almost exactly like people.
