They're Muslim not Christians. They're allowed to kill in the name of a "just cause". (Also thou shalt not kill is rule number 7 in Christianity and 8 in Islam)

Has more to do with free speech than anything else. Since every single person who publicly releases a picture of Muhammad often finds themselves getting shot and killed. It's basically saying that by drawing these the people won't be afraid to express themselves or free speech in even the face of violence.

Well it depends on where you live...But it's very rare for people to be killed, and if you live in an "occidental" country, you don't really have to worry. However, if you decide to release those drawings in "Al Hayat" let's say (though I doubt they would agree but imagine), and it's published in every arabic-speaking country, then it's sure you're gonna be in a huge mess...And a lot of countries who do not want those drawings released practice censorship anyway...

I agree with you, but free speech is important...I think the problem is that's we, non-muslim people, are not really concerned. If muslims (right spelling?) themselves wanted the right to draw muhammad, they would fight for their rights. It sounds selfish, I know, 'what about our right to draw' etc...I just think Islam is a relatively young religion, therefore it might take time for them to adapt it to their real needs. If you think about it, christianism four or five centuries ago was...pretty violent and intolerant.

well, it's totally understandable why they prohibit the drawings...
it's like, since no actual records or portraits of Muhammad have been recorded, things like drawing Muhammad or sketching him might be a little provocative since...uhh..it might be considered as an insult because no one actually knows how he looked like.

reminds me of an arabic cartoon shows about the history of Muhammad...they depicted Muhammad as a white apparition with no voice and exact figures. they only put a few subtitles just so that the 'Muhammad' character appears to be talking.

hahaha...I used to watch those kind of shows when I was little, but then I watched DBZ in arabic and it was so awesome so I forgot all about those little propaganda programms...

see?? it's better not to think hard about those kind of stuffs. I mean, why do something that'll make others mad? it's better to respect others privacy.

The way I see it. Ya its cool and all to respect other peoples religion but with the way things are now its almost as if people say "No you can not draw Muhammad under any circumstances or face punishment!". I would like to see someone in the media show a picture of Muhammad publicly.

This is mostly a protest if anything.
